(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 6 provinces. According to this report, 13 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 7 were illegally arrested.

1. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Gong Haifeng Detained

Mr. Gong Haifeng from Qingdao City was arrested by officers from the Fushanlu Police Station in Licang District on May 20, 2018, after informational materials about the practice were found in his belongings at a check-point while he was traveling back to Qingdao City from Jinan City. Officers also ransacked his home. Mr. Gong was taken to the Pudong Detention Center the following evening.

2. [Lechang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Hu Zongxiu Detained

Under the directives from the local 610 Office, Li Weizhong, head of the Lechang City Domestic Security Division, and others broke into Ms. Hu Zongxiu's home and arrested her on April 28, 2018. Ms. Hu, in her seventies, was held in the Lechang City Detention Center until May 7, 2018. An exam found that she had high blood pressure and stones in her organs.

3. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Dong Shuhai Taken to Prison

Mr. Dong Shuhai was arrested and his home ransacked by officers from the Domestic Security Division and the Mingshan Police Station on June 28, 2016. The officers confiscated Falun Gong books, informational materials, a notebook computer, a desktop computer, a printer, 4,000 yuan in cash, and a Buick car. He was released on medical bail and forced to pay 10,000 yuan as bail.

Marshals from the Mingshan District Court showed up at Mr. Dong's workplace and arrested him again on December 4, 2017. He was taken to the Benxi City Detention Center.

The Mingshan District Court secretly tried Mr. Dong on December 7, 2017, and sentenced him to one year and six months in prison. Mr. Dong appealed the sentence, but the Benxi City Intermediate Court upheld the original verdict.

Mr. Dong's mother went to the detention center to visit him on May 15, 2018, and was told that her son had been transferred to Shenyang Prison the day before.

4. [Shouguan City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Gaojia residents Ms. Zhang Wenhua, Ms. Wang Aiqin, Ms. Cheng Meilan, Ms. Zhang Jinmei, Mr. Li Shurong, and a practitioner with the surname Ding were arrested at home by officers from the Shouguang City Domestic Security Division and the Luocheng Police Station on May 11, 2018 and taken to the Weifang Detention Center. Their homes were ransacked.

Ms. Zhang Jinmei, Mr. Li, and Ding were released at around 11:00 p.m. that evening due to health reasons. Ms. Zhang Wenhua, Ms. Wang, and Ms. Cheng were held in the Weifang Detention Center.

Ms. Han Xuelan was also visited at home by the police officers, but was not arrested due to health reasons.

5. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Guiying and Ms. Tang Jurong Arrested

Ms. Zhang Guiying and Ms. Tang Jurong were arrested and their homes were ransacked by officers from the Lutou Police Station on May 21, 2018. The officers confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and the book Zhuan Falun from Ms. Zhang's home. Both practitioners were taken to a detention center. Ms. Zhang was released that day, while Ms. Tang was detained for 15 days.

6. [Baji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wen Chunxia Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Wen Chunxia from Zhaojiaya Village in Gaojia Town was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong on December 1, 2017, and taken to a detention center. She was later sentenced to one-and-a-half years in prison by the Weibin Court on the afternoon of April 16, 2018. She is still being held in the Baoji City No. 2 Detention Center.

7. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Guifang Arrested

Ms. Zhao Guifang was arrested by officers from the Shuanglong Police Station on the morning of May 21, 2018.

8. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Song Xiuchang Arrested

Mr. Song Xiuchang, a truck driver from Hexi Village in Huancui District was arrested by officers from Yiwu on May 22, 2018, for distributing Falun Gong DVDs on his way to Jinhua City. His home was ransacked. His whereabouts are unknown.

9. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Xiufang Detained

Ms. Liu Xiufang from Daliujia Village in Hutouya Town was reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong in Pengjia Village on March 22, 2018. She was then arrested at home by officers from the Laizhou City Domestic Security Division. The officers confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of the practice. Ms. Liu was placed under administrative detention for five days.

10. [Guang'an City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Xueshu Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Liu Xueshu was arrested on April 2, 2018, and taken to Jianyang Prison. She was then sentenced to one year of imprisonment to be served outside of prison. The authorities later changed their verdict after her physical exam showed everything was normal. She now has to serve one year in prison.

11. [Jiaozuo City, Henan Province] Mr. Li Shuqin Detained

Practitioner Mr. Li Shuqin, in his sixties, was arrested on the afternoon of May 15, 2018, for talking to people about Falun Gong. He is being held in the Jiaozuo City Detention Center.

12. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wu Youshu and Ms. Liu Guiying Tortured in Prison

Ms. Wu Youshu and Ms. Liu Guiying are being held in the No. 6 Ward of Chengdu Women's Prison. They have not been allowed to bathe, wash their hair, brush their teeth, or use toilet paper in the restroom for several months. They were given only a small amount of food in each meal, and could only drink four small cups of water each day. They were also only allowed to use the restroom four times a day, and were forced to sit still on a small stool with their knees pressed against the wall and their heels off the ground, with their backs straight. They are now emaciated and physically weak.
