(Minghui.org) An 81-year-old man in Dalian City, Liaoning Province was sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Mr. Hao Fukui and his wife are natives of Jilin City, Jilin Province. They have been repeatedly arrested for their faith since the persecution began in July 1999. Mr. Hao's pension was once suspended for 45 straight months. In order to avoid further arrests, he and his wife moved to Dalian City, where they found themselves again targets of persecution.
Mr. Hao was arrested by Dalian police on October 8, 2017 and indicted on January 15, 2018. Judge Wang Qian of the Kaifaqu District Court convicted him not long afterwards.
Mr. Hao was initially released on bail, but he was taken back into custody on June 11, 2018 when he reported to the court as instructed. He is being held at the Daheishan Detention Center.
