(Minghui.org) Thirteen residents in Yantai City were arrested on September 15, 2017, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The Laishan District Police Department was responsible for the mass arrest.
Ten of the arrested Falun Gong practitioners saw their cases twice returned to police due to insufficient evidence. Instead of releasing the practitioners, police fabricated more evidence and resubmitted the cases to Laishan District Procuratorate in May 2018.
The procuratorate filed indictments against the ten practitioners and forwarded their cases to Laishan District Court on June 29, 2018. The ten practitioners are now facing trial for their faith.
Among them, Ms. Pan Rongqing, Ms. Pan Yanyan, Ms. Ma Yuzhen, 63, and Ms. Zhao Shuyu are being held at Fushan Detention Center. Ms. Han Zhongxiang, 71, Ms. Xiao Shuxian, 70, Ms. Wu Xiangding, 79, Ms. Sun Mingqiu, 63, and Ms. Zou Benzhen, 67 are on bail. Ms. Zhang Huiying, 74, is under house arrest.
The cases against the remaining three practitioners, including Ms. Li Airu, 65, Mr. Luan Jingyao (husband of Ms. Pan Yanyan), and Ms. Cui Deying, remain to be investigated. It is unclear where the practitioners are being detained and whether any of them have been released on bail.
