(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces. According to this report, at least 21 Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested, at least 17 practitioners were illegally detained, 9 were sent to prison, 6 practitioners have either been sentenced or are facing trial, and 4 practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.

Mr. Zhang Yuyi was arrested on his way to work on July 17, 2018.

2. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Brainwashing Center

Ms. Tang Minhe, Ms. Li Shuixiu, and Mr. Deng Qinghui are being held in the Laodaohe Brainwashing Center.

3. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Zaihua Taken to Prison

Ms. Chen Zaihua was transferred from the New Inmates Ward of Liaoning Prison to Shenyang Prison in June 2018.

4. [Rui'an City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Chen Hemei Tried

Ms. Chen Hemei from Mayu Town was arrested by officers from the Mayu Police Station on January 9, 2018. She was tried by the Rui'an City Procuratorate on March 21.

5. [Chongqing] Ms. Deng Huacheng Taken to Prison

Ms. Deng Huacheng from the Yongchuan District was recently sentenced. She was taken to the Zouma Town Women's Prison on July 5, 2018. No family visits have been allowed.

Ms. Mao Huilan was arrested by officers from the Xingou Town Police Station while she was talking to people about Falun Gong at Wuchang Train Station on July 15, 2018. She was taken to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.

Ms. Sun Shiying, her daughter, and her son have been held for 16 months. Their cases were turned over to the Chaoyang District Court.

Ms. Zheng Quanhua was arrested by officers from the Laixi City Police Department and Shuiji Police Station on the morning of July 17, 2018. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Chu Lianping was arrested by deputy director Jiao and other officers from the Jinmenlu Police Station on June 8, 2018. Her home was ransacked.

Ms. Chu was taken to the Pudong Detention Center.

16. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Taken to Prison

Three practitioners from Dandong City were arrested for refusing to renounce their belief in Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang Guifang was arrested on November 11, 2016, and tried on December 8, 2017. Ms. Zhang Shujie and Ms. Zhao Hong'e were both arrested on March 21, 2017, and were tried together as soon as Ms. Wang’s hearing ended.

Judge Dong Wen of Zhenxing Court did not inform either of the defendants’ families or their lawyers of the trial dates. He sentenced all three to prison ten days later.

Ms. Wang was sentenced to a four-year prison term, while Ms. Zhang and Ms. Zhao were each sentenced to three and a half years.

The three practitioners appealed, but the local appeals court ruled to uphold the original verdicts without holding a public hearing. They were taken to Shenyang Women's Prison on June 19, 2018, shortly after the ruling was delivered.

Ms. Zhang's family recently filed complaints against both the Zhenxing Court and the appeals court.

17. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Six Practitioners' Cases Turned Over to Court

Mr. Li Weitao, Mr. Wang Yongsheng, Mr. Guo Shiyou, Mr. Gu Linjie, Mr. Tang Xianhe, and Ms. Luo Li were arrested on July 19, 2017, when they drove to a rural area and hung up banners about Falun Gong. They have been detained for one year, and their cases have been submitted to the Tahe District Court.

Mr. Li went on hunger strike to protest the persecution. He was force-fed and his health is deteriorating.

Mr. Guo cannot take care of himself as a result of torture.

18. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Five Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Fu Guoqi, Mr. Chen Yanming, Ms. Xia Yulan, Mr. Huang Liwu, and Ms. Xi Guoxiu were arrested by Huarong District Police Department officers in Ezhou City, Hubei Province, on July 12, 2016. They were taken to the Ezhou Detention Center.

The five practitioners were all sentenced to prison in November 2017 by the Huarong District Court, Mr. Fu Guoqi to a four-year term, Ms. Xia Yulan to two years and ten months, Mr. Chen Yanming to two and a half years, Mr. Huang Liwu to two years and two months, and Ms. Xi Guoxiu to two years.

All five appealed to the intermediate court, but the Ezhou Detention Center notified their families on June 6, 2018, that the intermediate court had upheld the original verdicts.

Mr. Fu, Mr. Chen, and Mr. Huang were transferred to Fanjiatai Prison, while Ms. Xia was transferred to Hubei Provincial Women’s Prison. Ms. Xi was released on July 12, 2018, after being held for two years.

19. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Tried

Ms. Wang Yuhui, Ms. Ma Suyuan, and Ms. Sun Jingzhi were tried in the Suizhong County Court on July 11, 2018. They are being held in the Huludao Detention Center.

Ms. Wang Yuhui was previously arrested on the way to her in-laws’ home on August 15, 2016. She was beaten and force-fed in the Huludao Detention Center. She was released on October 13, 2016, after being held for 58 days. Ms. Wang was arrested again on May 18, 2018.
