(Minghui.org) A 47-year-old woman in Zhucheng City was sentenced to 2 years in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime, on social media.
Ms. Zang Jianxin, an employee of People's Bank of China, was home alone on May 22, 2017 when six agents broke in without showing any IDs.
Her mother returned home a bit later to find the strangers restraining her daughter. The elderly woman, who is nearly 80, asked them who they were, and one person responded that they were police from Weifang City (which has administrative authority over Zhucheng City).
Zhucheng police had harassed Ms. Zang and her mother a while ago. Ms. Zang's mother tried to persuade the Weifang police to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, but they ignored her and took her daughter to the Weifang Detention Center.
Ms. Zang appeared in Fangzi District Court on July 20, 2018. Her mother traveled from Zhucheng to Weifang but was prevented from entering the courthouse.
The prosecutor alleged that the two cell phones confiscated from Ms. Zang contained evidence that she talked to people about Falun Gong on WeChat, a Chinese social media platform. The judge quickly sentenced her to 2 years and adjourned the session in 30 minutes.
