The Unlawful Persecution and Abuse of Mr. Wang Rusheng

July 5, 2018 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Beijing

(Minghui.org) Sixty-two-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Rusheng from Beijing’s Fangshan District has reportedly been abused while illegally detained in a brainwashing center.

Mr. Wang and six other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested and detained when they were identified to be Falun Gong practitioners on March 8, 2017, at an inspection point in Tanghekou (Huairou District). Six of the practitioners were taken to the Shunyi Detention Center, and one was taken to the Huairou Detention Center the next day.

Mr. Wang was transferred to the Fangshan Detention Center on March 31. His family hired a lawyer to represent him in court in April. Mr. Wang told the lawyer that he had been served the indictment papers.

He was initially tried in August 2017 by the Fangshan District Court. The judge barred the family from attending the trial. Mr. Wang’s lawyer was notified on October 25 that he had been sentenced to 18 months in prison. Mr. Wang appealed.

He was taken to the Beijing No. 3 Detention Center on December 25, 2017, then to the Xin'an Education Center in Daxing District for brainwashing. Since the family was not notified of the transfer, they exhausted all channels in their attempts to find Mr. Wang.

After circumventing many obstacles, his daughter finally learned of his whereabouts in late February 2018. Mr. Wang had been hospitalized after being abused at the brainwashing center. It has been reported that he now has the appearance of an eighty-year-old man.

The daughter asked to visit her father in the hospital. The police denied the request, claiming they needed authorization from their superiors.

Mr. Wang's daughter and other family members then attempted to see him in early May. Police officials once again denied visitation rights, stating that they would not cooperate with the family since Mr. Wang did not cooperate with them.
