(Minghui.org) Nine Dezhou City residents, the oldest being 82, were questioned by police in recent months for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Li Lanfen, 64, is a retired government worker. Police broke into her home one day earlier this year. They left without taking her, after they found only clothes, not Falun Gong books, in her closet.
Police returned in about three months and arrested her on the grounds that she distributed Falun Gong informational materials in a local residential complex. This time they found and confiscated all of her Falun Gong books. Her husband was so traumatized that he had a heart attack and was hospitalized. The couple's son-in-law later used his connections to get Ms. Li released.
Ms. Liang Liying, 71, was arrested on June 1, 2018 and released on bail later that night. Police threatened to arrest her son, should his mother go out to distribute Falun Gong materials again. The son then decided to have his mother live with him and remain under his watch.
Ms. Xu Zhen, around 70, is a retired teacher. Police showed up at her home in June 2018 and turned everything upside down. They then called her son and threatened to suspend his mother's pension. Her son pleaded with police not to do so because his mother, a widow, relied on the pension to make ends meet. The police then demanded that he attend a three-day brainwashing session on behalf of his mother. The son went because he didn't want his mother to lose her pension.
Ms. Li Xiurong, 82, is a retired government worker. Police came one day to ask about her Falun Gong practice. They also tried to take her picture, but she stopped them.
Ms. Yang Xiufen, Ms. Ma Zhenzhen, Ms. Gao Meixue, Ms. Sun Xiurong, and Ms. Hua Yurong (age 57) were all harassed on May 26, 2018. Police asked if they still practiced Falun Gong and whether they owned printers to produce Falun Gong informational materials.
