Newly Widowed Man Arrested for His Faith, Denied Admission by Detention Center for High Blood Pressure

Jan. 26, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hubei Province, China

(Minghui.org) While Mr. Wang Wenqing's family was still mourning the recent loss of his wife, they were saddened to hear that the 76-year-old Wuhan City resident was arrested for practicing Falun Gong, a mind-body improvement system persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.

The police broke into Mr. Wang's home shortly after he had breakfast on January 11, 2019. They ransacked his home, confiscated two copies of Minghui Weekly (a Falun Gong publication with practitioners' cultivation stories), and pushed him into the police car.

The police interrogated Mr. Wang at Yaojijie Police Station and took him to Huangpi District People's Hospital for a physical checkup. His blood pressure was at a critically high level.

The police attempted to keep him in detention. The Bali Detention Center, however, rejected his admission due to his advanced age and high blood pressure.

The police released Mr. Wang after asking his family to pay 2,000 yuan in bail. A neighbor was ordered by the police to monitor him. The police also installed a surveillance camera in front of his home.

The officers from Huangpi District Domestic Security Division and Yaojijie Police Station have frequently harassed Mr. Wang in the past few years. They have often searched his home, taken his pictures and interrogated him at the police station.
