(Minghui.org) A Yushu City, Jilin Province resident was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Fan Yunpeng, 50, was arrested at home by officers from Huachang Police Station on March 26, 2019. They ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books and related materials.
The police targeted Mr. Fan after seeing him put up posters about Falun Gong through surveillance camera.
He appeared in Dehui City Court on August 8, 2019 and was convicted on September 20, 2019. The court didn't inform his family of his sentencing until three weeks later on October 13.
Mr. Fan has appealed the verdict.
