(Minghui.org) A typhoon warning did not dissuade Falun Gong practitioners in Taipei from following their weekly routine. The practitioners still went to put up posters and give out fliers in front of Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall on September 30, 2019. They wanted to tell more people about the ongoing persecution of the practice in China, especially the tourists from China. They wanted them to have the chance to learn why the 20-year-long persecution is wrong and to hear about the health benefits of practicing Falun Gong.
Despite gusty winds and occasional showers, Falun Gong practitioners still gathered in front of Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall to raise awareness of the persecution of the practice in China.
Local resident Mr. Chiu lives near the memorial hall. He came over to practitioners to encourage them. “I knew (Falun Gong practitioners) would come despite the heavy rain and wind. That is true persistence and that’s the spirit! I admire you and that’s why I am here to be with you. Keep up the good work,” Chiu said.
Tourists Told to Meet by the Falun Gong Posters
Three passersby who come to the Memorial Hall every weekend overheard two tour guides telling their groups, “Be back here in 40 minutes in front of the Falun Gong posters.”
The three passersby came over to practitioners with their thumbs up. “Your faith allows you to be here, rain or shine. Look at the Chinese tourists, they need you here,” they said to encourage practitioners.
Practitioners Uphold Their Faith
A couple from Dalian City in Liaoning Province, China, came over to the Falun Gong practitioners. The husband carefully read all the posters and fliers and asked for the most recent information. It turned out that his sister is a Falun Gong practitioner. “She tells me the latest information every day. I know all about the persecution,” he said. His wife suggested, “We should bring your sister here next time.” The husband then told a practitioner: “My sister was arrested and imprisoned many times. She still insists on practicing. She is no doubt a good disciple of Master Li (the founder).”
“Only Falun Gong practitioners can uphold their faith for so long resisting the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution,” he said.
Shocked by the Crimes of the Chinese Government
A man from London said he knew that practitioners in England often hold peaceful protests in front of the Chinese Embassy in London. After reading the posters, he told practitioners, “I don’t like the Chinese government, but I do like the Chinese people and the traditional culture. These are totally separate ideas.”
“The Chinese authorities have arrested many Uygurs. My Chinese teacher was arrested three weeks ago from his home. I haven’t heard from him since,” he said.
When the practitioners explained some of the torture methods used on practitioners in China to force them to give up their faith, the man was shocked that authorities would commit those sorts of crimes and called it “horrible and cruel.”
Before he parted, he told the practitioners that he would find out more about Falun Gong and the persecution from the internet. He shook hands with the practitioners and wished them good luck and success.
