(Minghui.org) A 76-year-old woman in Dalian City, Liaoning Province was recently imprisoned to serve a 3.5-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Li Gang was first arrested on March 8, 2016 and charged with having a large amount of Falun Gong informational DVDs at home. After she developed some medical condition in detention, the prosecutor dismissed her case, citing her advanced age. She was released on May 27, 2016.

Ms. Li was arrested again on March 22, 2018 and later sentenced to seven years by Shahekou District Court.

She appealed to Dalian Intermediate Court, which returned the case to the lower court and ordered a retrial. The judge at the lower court re-convicted her, but with a reduced term of 3.5 years.

Ms. Li was sent to Liaoning Women’s Prison on October 22, 2019.
