(Minghui.org) A 71-year-old woman has been detained for six months for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body tradition that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Li Huixian, a resident of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, was taken away from her home on June 9, 2019 and has been held at Yangjiang No.1 Detention Center since.
The detention center closely monitored Falun Gong practitioners detained there. Ms. Li was once held in solitary confinement for three days after the guards found she had talked to some inmates about Falun Gong.
She was also forced to make rubber gloves and finger covers every afternoon.
Prior to her latest ordeal, Ms. Li was arrested on August 9, 2017 and detained for 15 days, also for her faith.
She used to be addicted to gambling and suffered from poor health. Falun Gong helped her quit gambling and improved her health. She felt compelled to tell people that Falun Gong is nothing like what's depicted in the government propaganda, only to be arrested.
