(Minghui.org) Studying and remembering Master's Fa keeps me aware at all times what Master has asked of practitioners.
Master said,
“The final salvation was sure to take place at a time when humanity’s moral values have fallen apart. It can be hard to save people where evil has the upper hand, when you face the strains of persecution, and when people’s minds have been infused with lies. Yet the majority of our practitioners have done well at saving people. The truth is, if there were nothing hard about it, it wouldn’t need to be those who cultivate the Great Way of Dafa carrying out the salvation, and of course, nor could the magnificent virtue of Dafa disciples show itself. All of those whom you save will one day become the beings of your [domains]. You are the hope of all lives, and you are the future!” (“To the 2018 Asia Fa Conference”)
When thinking back on my path of clarifying the truth face to face, I found that the first step was the most difficult. It began when I filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who launched the persecution of Falun Dafa.
I didn't start earlier on clarifying the truth as I was scared of the persecution, and I rarely talked to people outside of my work.
However, as a Falun Dafa practitioner, I knew that I had to clarify the truth about Dafa to people. Bringing Jiang to justice meant that the persecution was nearing its end and that the Party would be destroyed, with few chances left for awakening people's conscience.
I started to read a lot of truth-clarification articles and even memorized some. But the first time I clarified the truth to a middle-aged woman on a bus was a failure. I was very disappointed. After I talked to her for a while, she replied, “Aunty, I am not interested in discussing this topic.” I felt ashamed. But, after I returned home, I remembered that Master had said that there are no role models for practitioners–we had to figure it all out by ourselves. After a while, I developed my own way of talking about Dafa.
I asked myself why that woman was not interested in listening to me. It was because she didn't like the way I talked. Thus, when I met people on the bus or at a park, I started to chat with them. After a while, I learned what topics people were interested in.
Most of the time, strangers simply listened to me, and after they lost interest, they just walked away. I was not very happy because I tried my best to talk to people about Dafa and the persecution. I remembered to look inward and realized that people just did not like the way I approached the subject, and it was difficult for them to accept what I told them.
Then, I changed my approach from “telling” to “communicating.” I asked about their life, their kids and went into my topic of interest later.
When I was talking to a college student, we talked about Jiang’s corruption and how he persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. He said, “The Party is the biggest gang.”
When I talked to a member of a police institute, I believed him to be brainwashed. However, I was wrong. He listened quietly. I talked from the political purges during Mao's time in the 50s to the Tiananmen Square Massacre on June 4, 1989. Then, I spoke about Jiang Zemin launching the persecution of Falun Gong. He agreed and also agreed to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations.
A policeman was well aware of Dafa and the persecution, so I spoke about the beginning of the Party, how Karl Marx became involved in satanism and wanted to destroy human beings, and how the Soviet Union disintegrated overnight. Then, I talked of Mao's policies and purges that resulted in mass deaths, and so on. He told me that he knew all of this and even more. He even mentioned that Jiang corrupted elementary school students, who charged classmates money for copying their homework.
When I met a prison guard, I asked him if any practitioners are in the prison where he worked. He nodded. He agreed with me that the chief perpetrator was Jiang Zemin. He also agreed to quit the Party.
Then, I talked to an elderly intellectual from Shanghai. He told me that his classmate witnessed what had happened at Tiananmen Square on June 4. So, he refused to join the Party.
An elderly woman was intimidated during the Cultural Revolution and talked very softly. I persuaded her to quit the Party, and she thanked me for giving her a truth-clarifying letter.
A retired middle school teacher did not get off the bus because she wanted to hear more about Dafa and the persecution. She quit the Party before she got off.
When I took the bus to a park on August 25, 2018, I met a policeman who had just retired. He said that he knew about the self-immolation hoax on Tiananmen Square. I told him that the director who perpetrated the hoax was Chen Hong. She died of cancer in her 40s. He also quit the Party before we parted.
However, my approach did not always go smoothly. Some people simply ignored me, even when I greeted them. Some walked away after listening to me for a few seconds.
In the beginning, I could not accept these ill-mannered people. But I knew Master had said, “you did not fight back when hit or talk back when cursed at.” (Fa-Teaching Given at the Conference in Sydney, 2018 version). Yet, it was difficult for me to deal with this.
After looking inside, I found my attachments to combativeness, hatred, and dislike of being wronged. I gradually eliminated these attachments. Now, no matter how people treat me, I just smile and don't take it to heart. I know that all hardships are good things to improve my xinxing.
During the past three years of clarifying the truth to people face to face, I have eliminated a lot of attachments and improved my xinxing.
