Practicing Falun Gong Brings Me Joy

May 4, 2019 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in Heilongjiang Province, China

(Minghui.org) I have been practicing Falun Gong for more than 20 years and have seen improvement in both my physical and mental health. Most importantly, my morality has elevated. I am no longer trapped by personal gains and losses. Others enjoy interacting with me because I am always willing to see things from their perspective.

I worked for a business of over 60 employees for four years. I was the head cook, and there was also an assistant cook. The assistant cook's job was to help me with food preparation and cleaning up.

We served three main dishes and a soup for lunch. In addition, a few special dishes were prepared for upper management. The assistant did not do food preparation, however, instead spending most of her time playing with her cellphone. I had to do two person's jobs and get lunch ready by 11:30 a.m. I was often running back and forth in the kitchen soaked with sweat.

I did not say anything to the assistant cook, but I was upset on the inside. Making soup and porridge used to be her job, and she stopped making those as well.

Master [Li Hongzhi] taught:

“In cultivation, there may be two scenarios when dealing with specific conflicts or when others treat you badly. One is that you might have treated this person badly in your previous life. You feel in your heart that it is unfair, “How can this person treat me like this?” Then why did you treat this person that way in the past? You might claim that you actually did not know it at that time, and this lifetime has nothing to do with another lifetime, but that won’t do. There is another issue. In conflicts, the issue of transforming karma is involved. Therefore, when actually dealing with conflicts we should take the high road instead of acting like everyday people.” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun)

The assistant cook is an ordinary person, and I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I had to do better than her. Nothing happens by coincidence, since what I owed must be repaid. So I started to prepare lunch earlier than normal without holding any grudges.

After lunch service was over, I prepared for the next day's lunch and helped her with cleaning up.

While working there, I told everyone I met about the goodness of Falun Gong and encouraged them to denounce any connection with the CCP.

I befriended a new employee, Betty (Alias). Betty moved to the city from the countryside with her husband and young child. She occasionally helped out in the kitchen. Betty said to me, “Auntie, you are such a kind person. You always smile.”

“I practice Falun Gong,” I told her. I explained what Falun Gong is, and how practitioners are wrongfully persecuted by the Chinese government. I also told her that the “self-immolation at Tiananmen square” was staged, and the Chinese government has been murdering practitioners for their organs.

Betty listened to my every word and asked many questions. She said, “Falun Gong is good, not like what the TV broadcasted. No wonder you always look happy. You were the only person who smiled at me when I started working here! I like chatting with you.”

I said, “You're a good person too. Please remember Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. You will have a brighter future if you denounce any ties with the C.C.P.”

Betty said she is a Christian. I told her that I was not trying to persuade her to practice Falun Gong. Since the CCP is an atheist organization, however, no god would watch over someone who belongs to it. She happily denounced the CCP organizations she had joined while in elementary school.

I had to change jobs last May and was offered a higher paying position. But I turned it down because it was too far from where I lived. I now work part-time. I want to spend more time in studying the Fa and doing the Falun Gong exercises. I feel that my time is spent more meaningfully this way.

I am blessed to be a Falun Gong practitioner and have Master Li guiding me on my cultivation path.
