Aug. 4, 2019 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shandong Province, China

(Minghui.org) A woman in Dezhou City, Shandong Province, was secretly sentenced to one year in prison for seeking justice for a fellow Falun Gong practitioner who had been incarcerated for not renouncing his faith.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Jiang Yuqin, in her 50s, was arrested on December 25, 2018, when she accompanied the wife of Mr. Jia Zhaomin to Qihe County Police Department to inquire about his case.

The police admitted Ms. Jiang to the Dezhou City Detention Center but never informed her family of her trial. It wasn't until recently that the family learned that Ms. Jiang had been secretly sentenced by the Qihe County Court.

While Ms. Jiang's family found out that she has been admitted to prison on July 11, 2019, they don't know the name or location of the prison.

Arrest of Mr. Jia Zhaomin

Mr. Jia, a middle school teacher in Jinan City, Shandong Province, was arrested on November 10, 2018, when he returned to his hometown in Dezhou City to distribute Falun Gong informational materials. The police beat him with metal rods, leaving him covered in bruises.

Mr. Jia has been held in Dezhou Detention Center ever since. He appeared in the Qihe County Court on April 29, 2019, and is now awaiting a verdict.
