(Minghui.org) An 82-year-old woman in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province has been repeatedly harassed in the past few months for her faith in Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Police officers from the Hongmiaopo Police Station descended on Ms. Guo Aixiang’s home around 11 a.m. on April 27, 2020. They took her photos and videotaped her.
Around 9 a.m. on July 26, 2020, five officers knocked on Ms. Guo’s door. As she wasn’t home, the police returned at 1:30 p.m. and ransacked her home. They confiscated more than 30 of her Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. Ms. Guo was then brought to the Hongmiaoguo Police Station and interrogated for three hours before being released.
The police returned to Ms. Guo’s home around 4 p.m. on July 27, 2020, and said to her, “From today on, you are not allowed to practice Falun Gong or read Falun Gong books, not even at home.” They verbally attacked Falun Gong and its founder.
The police also ordered Ms. Guo to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong, but she refused to comply. The police threatened her, “We will lock you up if you don’t sign it. We are giving you six days to make the decision.”
When Ms. Guo still refused to sign the document, the police kept coming back to harass her.
Around 10 a.m. on August 6, the police knocked on Ms. Guo’s door. She didn’t open the door, and they left about 20 minutes later.
The police harassed her again at 10:30 a.m. on September 7 and stayed outside her home for about 15 minutes.
Ms. Guo’s husband is 88 years old. He was very nervous and fearful every time the police came.
Ms. Guo took up Falun Gong in 1996 and has enjoyed good health since. After the communist regime ordered the persecution in 1999, she has been arrested and detained multiple times.
She was first arrested on June 10, 2002, and interrogated. In the next few months, the police monitored her daily life before the Chinese Communist Party’s 16th National Congress in November.
Ms. Guo was arrested again on March 12, 2003, and held in a brainwashing center for 58 days.
The police also monitored her for four months during the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
She was arrested twice in 2016, on September 28 and in November, respectively, and detained for a day both times.
On March 22, 2017, she was arrested at the entrance of a subway station and held in custody for three days.
