(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Yu Lei was arrested by officers from the Songyuan City Domestic Security Division on December 10, 2019. He has been held in the Shanyou Detention Center. Mr. Yu’s case was turned over to the Qianguo County Procuratorate, which filed charges against him in the Qianguo County Court.
He was secretly tried in recent days, and sentenced to prison. He appealed.
Mr. Zhang Jun will be tried at the Shunqing District Court on the morning of July 29, 2020.
Ms. Wang Lin from Yaohai District was arrested and taken to the Xiaoyaojin Police Station in early June 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong.
Several days later, officers from the Chengdong Police Station, Yaohai District, went to Ms. Bu Yuhua’s home and arrested her and Ms. Xu Xiaoxian, who was visiting. Both practitioners were taken to the police station for interrogation. They were released on bail. Ms. Bu’s home was ransacked.
Ms. He Zhangqin was harassed by officers from the Huachong Police Station. She was taken to the police station for interrogation.
Ms. Zhu Shizhen was also harassed and taken to the Chengdong Police Station for interrogation.
The five practitioners were all released that day.
Ms. Zhao Shuqin from Baoding City was arrested on May 15, 2019, at the Doudian checkpoint, when traveling to her son’s home in Beijing to take care of her grandchild. The authorities arrested her when they found Falun Gong informational materials in the car she was riding in. Ms. Zhao was released on bail for one year after being held in the Fangshan Detention Center for 27 days.
At the detention center, Ms. Zhao refused to cooperate, and the guards handcuffed and shackled her for seven days and nights, during which time she was not allowed to change clothes or take a shower.
Ms. Li Yuhua was notified that she and some other practitioners will be tried by the Yuzhong District Court on July 31, 2020. They were arrested at a truth-clarification materials production site on September 7, 2018. She was released when she failed the physical examination. The other practitioners have been held in custody for nearly two years.
Three other practitioners were arrested at different locations, and have been held in custody for over a year.
They are: Ms. Li Yuhua, Ms. Yu Xiuhua, Ms. Li Jiahui, Ms. Qin Xuemei, Mr. Zhang Shengquan, Mr. Gao Hongwei, Ms. Liu Chengbi, Ms. Wang Shuru, and Ms. Deng Meilian.
Ms. Guo Yulan, about 70, from Qingtongxia City, was arrested by the Wuzhong City police on November 15, 2019. She has been held in the Wuzhong City Detention Center.
Ms. Jing Fengyun was arrested downstairs of her apartment building and taken to the Beishichang Police Station by officers who was staked out there on July 23, 2020. The officers forcibly took her fingerprints and body searched her. She was taken to the Central Hospital for a physical exam, then she was taken to a detention center around 5 or 6 p.m. The detention center refused to admit her as her blood pressure reached 180/110. She has returned home.
Ms. Yan Li’s daughter recently received phone calls from the Xiguan Police Station, Liquan Sub-district, and Gaomi City Political and Legal Affairs Committee. They threatened her and told her to tell her mother to go to Gaomi City to sign statements. Ms. Yan refused to go or to sign anything.
Ms. Song Baoyu from the Yuanbaoshan District was arrested and taken to the Dianchang Police Station around July 5, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was released. She was summoned to the police station on July 15. She has not yet returned.
Mr. Xing Jianpu from Gaohuangdi Village, Xinmin City, was arrested and taken to the Gaotaizi Police Station when he distributed Falun Gong materials on the evening of July 18, 2020.
Police went to Ms. Wang Lanfen’s home and ransacked the place. There were several practitioners there at that time.
Ms. Huang Xiuqiong from Guangxing Town was arrested and taken to the Xiangyang Police Station on July 22, 2020. The officers confiscated her printed materials, keepsakes, and DVDs with internet censorship circumvention applications. The officers slapped her twice in the face, and attempted to force her to sign the transcript, which she refused. She escaped and returned home at noon when the officers took a nap.
Two days later, the officers came to her home again and arrested her. She was taken to the Zhongshan Hospital for a physical exam. She was taken to the Guanghan City Detention Center that evening. The detention center refused to admit her as she failed the physical exam. She has returned home.
Over 20 police officers led by personnel from the Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Mao Yongfang’s home and ransacked the place early on the morning of July 22, 2020. They confiscated a large number of Falun Gong materials and unrelated items. Ms. Mao, her husband, and their daughter were arrested.
Ms. Mao’s husband and daughter were released on July 23. Her situation is not clear.
Mr. Wang Yukang, 82, was sitting in the shade in the community garden on July 21, 2020. Five plainclothes officers from the Domestic Security Division told him to go home and open the door. They barged in and ransacked the place. They confiscated a printer. Mr. Wang’s wife Ms. Wei Fengling, 72, was arrested and taken to a police station, where she was interrogated until 2 a.m. that night. She was then released.
Mr. He Tianqin and his wife Ms. Cao Fang, 66, were arrested at home by officers from the Xinhua Road Police Station on the afternoon of July 22, 2020. The couple’s son Mr. He Shichang and daughter Ms. He Jiahui were also arrested.
Around 10:00 p.m. that evening, the officers ransacked Mr. He Shichang’s rented home and confiscated a computer and a printer. Mr. He’s wife Ms. Xu Jing was arrested and taken to the police station, where she was interrogated. Ms. Xu was released that evening.
The homes of Mr. Wang Shushen and his brother Mr. Wang Shukun were ransacked by officers from the Guangzhou Road Police Station on the evening of July 22, 2020. Mr. Wang Shukun was arrested and detained.
Ms. Yang Xiuyun, 67, retired, was told to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong by Wang Yuyang and other people from the Baoquanling Research Institute of Beidahuang Seeds Industry Group on July 9, 2020. Ms. Yang rejected their demand. They then told her husband to sign it.
Mr. Wang Fengyu’s son Mr. Wang Bo was recently phoned by Wang Yuyang of the research institute. He was told to persuade his father, who is his 80s, to sign statements renouncing Falun Gong. Wang Bo was told if his father signed statements to quit practicing Falun Gong, the future of Wang Bo’s son and daughter would not be adversely impacted.
Elderly Mr. Wang Fengyu refused and convinced his son not to sign anything either.
