(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 14 provinces, where at least 50 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Lai Zhiqiang was under “strict control” in the No. 7 Ward of Jidong No. 2 Prison for over three years. He was persecuted and had a stroke. He was force-fed every day in the prison health center. With a nasal feeding tube inserted for a long time, he was not given water to drink. He subsequently lost his ability to speak.
He now has a severe lung infection and the aftereffects of his stroke, and has become mentally disoriented. It was reported that he is now in Tangshan Union Hospital.
It was learned that in order to avoid responsibility, the prison authorities sent reports to the Judicial Bureau several times and proposed to grant Mr. Lai medical parole. No approval has been granted so far.
Ms. Su Lifeng, Ms. Liu Jingxiu, Ms. Sang Jingmei, Ms. Xiao Benying, and Ms. Yao Yuyan were arrested by officers from the Nanguangchang Police Station, Kuancheng District, on the afternoon of August 6, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked and they were detained.
Ms. Yao’s husband Mr. Song Yang, and son Mr. Song Mingyang were also arrested. They were taken to the Changchun City Detention Center. Mr. Song Mingyang was released.
Ms. Yao escaped from the police station at around 7:00 a.m. on August 8.
Ms. Qin Lianyu will be tried via video-link by the No. 2 Courtroom, Zhenhai District Court, on August 14, 2020.
Ms. Qin was arrested on April 18, 2019. She has been held in the Ningbo Detention Center for over one year and three months.
Ms. Jiang Pinglian, Mr. Wang Benlou, and Ms. Jiang Youxiang from Qidong County were reported to the police for posting Falun Gong materials in Bamaochong Village on the evening of August 4, 2020. They were arrested and held in the Qidong County Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Guilin from Qidong County was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of August 5, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Hongqiao Police Station, and has been held in a detention center.
Ms. Luo Jianrong, 54, from Hongmen Town was arrested at home by officers from the Nancheng County Domestic Security Division and the Hongmen Town Police Station on the afternoon of August 14, 2019. She was taken to the Fuzhou City Detention Center. It was reported that she had been sentenced and taken to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison.
Mr. Hu Yugen, 70, was given a four-year prison term in 2015. He returned home in May 2019.
He has been harassed for over a year by personnel from the police station, the comprehensive management office, the judicial agency, and the village judicial office.
Personnel from the judicial agency phoned Mr. Hu on August 6, 2020, and told him to come to the agency. He was told to sign a monthly living and work status sheet. People from the judicial department later came to his home and harassed him.
Five officers from the Yangcun Township Police Station and the Dingxing County Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Xue Fenglian’s home on the afternoon of July 21, 2020. They told her that she was reported, and they were there to conduct a search. They ransacked the place, and tore up all her calligraphy about Dafa that was posted on the wall. They confiscated a laptop computer, five Falun Dafa books, DVDs, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Ms. Xue was shoved into the police car and taken to the police station for interrogation. The officers tried to force her to sign the paperwork, but she refused.
Four or five officers held her in place, and forcibly took her blood samples, fingerprints, footprints, photos of her eyes for facial recognition, and recorded her voice. She was not taken home until after 8 p.m.
Ms. Wang Liying and her husband Mr. Zhou Yandong from the Shuangyang District were arrested at home by officers from the Tongyang Road Police Station late at night on August 6, 2020.
The couple was taken to the Weizigou Detention Center the following day after being held for 24 hours in the police station. The detention center refused to accept them due to incomplete paperwork. They were returned to the police station to complete the paperwork. The couple was again taken to the detention center, which is over 30 miles away. It was reported that the couple are being held for 15 days.
Ms. Zhang Qiuye, Ms. Li Xiuchun, Ms. Liu Feng’e, from Qi County, and another practitioner from Tiexi District, were arrested by officers from the Qi County 610 Office, the Domestic Security Division, and the police station on July 19, 2020. Their homes were ransacked.
The 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division recently extorted these practitioners' families, some for 20,000 yuan, some for 40,000 yuan. The practitioners were released afterwards.
Ms. Zheng Yingying, 69, and her sister Ms. Zheng Yingzhuang, 67, from Baiyun District, were arrested by officers from the Baiyun District Police Department on April 1, 2020. Their cases were brought to the Liwan District Court in August.
Ms. Liu Jinhua, 56, from Fanyu District, was arrested by officers from the Fanyu District Police Department and the Zhongcun Police Station on May 18, 2020. Her case was turned over to the Procuratorate.
Ms. Meng Guilong, 59, was arrested by officers from the Lulinshan Police Station at around 4:00 p.m. on the 2020 Chinese New Year’s Day (January 25). She was held in the Hegang City Detention Center.
Officers from the Shidong Police Station, the Baima Police Station, and residential community personnel in Anju District broke into the homes of Mr. Zhou Jiafu and Mr. Yuan Genlin on the morning of May 12, 2020. They confiscated computers and printers. Both practitioners were interrogated at the police station. They were both released after being fined 2,000 yuan each.
A group of officers from the Xinfa Town Police Station, Daoli District, went to elderly Mr. Yan’s home on August 10, 2020. Mr. Yan is in his 80s. The officers attempted to force him to write a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. One of the officers videotaped him with a cell phone.
Officers from the Jingyang Town Police Station went to Ms. Song Fengyun’s home on August 6, 2020. They asked what she posted in the Ludao area, and took photos of her.
A male officer went to Ms. Zhu Xiuhua’s workplace, questioned her, and took photos of her on August 7, 2020. A male officer later went to Ms. Bao Huiling’s home and harassed her.
Ms. Li Chunfu and Ms. Liu Shaoxiu were harassed by Tian Wenjie, Doutuo New Village Party secretary, the No. 5 Farm, Caofeidian District, in early July 2020. The village officials tried to take their photographs but the two practitioners refused to cooperate.
Personnel from the Damoujia Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the Comprehensive Management Office, along with the village Party secretary, broke into Mr. Sun Yingui’s home on the morning of July 5, 2020. They demanded to know if Mr. Sun still practiced Falun Gong. They tried to persuade him to stop.
The secretary of the Damoujia Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Comprehensive Management Office, along with 610 Office personnel and Xu Jie, responsible for “transforming” Falun Gong practitioners, went to Mr. Sun Yingui’s home again and harassed him on July 11. They took Mr. Sun and his son to a small meeting room in the town committee building, where they pressured Mr. Sun to give up his belief in Falun Gong.
Ms. Ma Xiuqin was sentenced to four years in prison. She appealed and is now waiting for the result.
During her detention at the Ulanhot Detention Center, she was tortured, handcuffed, and shackled for over 20 days. They even took her dentures.
Ms. Sun, owner of a pasta shop in Linxi County, was reported to the police by a cleaner for posting “Falun Dafa is great!” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is great!” stickers. Ms. Sun was arrested by officers from the Linxi Town Police Station on August 6, 2020. Ms. Sun’s home was ransacked and her Falun Dafa books and audio player were confiscated. Ms. Sun was released that day.
Ms. Jiang Yanling’s home was also ransacked. Her printer and other items were confiscated. She has become disabled due to the persecution.
Ms. Wang Lanying, a retired teacher from Lingshui County, was reported when she talked to people about Falun Gong in Moujia Town on July 30, 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Moujia Town Police Station. She has been held in the Lingshui County Detention Center since July 31, 2020.
Four or five officers from the Damoujia Town Police Station drove two police cars to Ms. Tang Zhengmin’s parents’ home at around 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. on August 9, 2020.
They said that someone reported her for practicing Falun Gong, and they ransacked the place. Ms. Tang’s parents are not practitioners. The police turned the house into a mess, even the garage. They found nothing they were looking for. They took Ms. Tang’s father to the police station for interrogation. They brought him home at around 8:00 p.m. that evening.
Ms. Xu Zhenying, 75, was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in February 2020. She was arrested by officers from the Huanggu Domestic Security Division and the Santaizi Police Station on February 17. Her home was ransacked and a computer and printed materials were confiscated.
Her non-practitioner husband and two children, Chen Xin and Chen Fei, were also arrested. The officers ransacked Chen Fei’s home and confiscated a large number of items. Ms. Xu’s husband was released at 10:00 p.m.
Two days later, Ms. Xu and her two children were released after the detention center refused to take them due to the pandemic. All three have been placed under residential surveillance for six months.
Several days ago, the Huanggu District Court phoned Ms. Xu and told her to come to court, and said that she had to clearly state her attitude. Ms. Xu was not at home, so they did not talk to her directly. The court officials said that an arrest warrant would be issued if she failed to come.
Mr. Shen Hongqi, Ms. Xu Mingxia, Mr. Jiao Binglan, and six other practitioners were arrested in July 2019. They will be tried by the Qishan County Court on August 18, 2020. Mr. Shen, Ms. Xu, and Mr. Jiao have been held in a detention center for over a year.
Five officers including residential police officer Tang Xian from the Haozhikou Police Station broke into Ms. Wang Qingfang’s home and harassed her again on July 29, 2020. They ransacked her home. They told her husband to monitor her and report to the police.
