(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhang Jiuying and Ms. Wu Shaoying of Jiujiang City were arrested on March 19, 2019. Someone reported them when they were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution. Police ransacked their homes and seized some Falun Gong printouts.
They were released on bail on April 16, 2019. They will be tried in the Yongxiu County Court on the afternoon of August 13, 2020.
Mr. Sui Yongyan, 68, of Dandong City, was arrested by officers from the Zhenzhu Road Police Station on the morning of June 18, 2020. He mailed letters which clarified the truth. A post office carrier reported him. He has been held in the Tangchi Detention Center.
Officers from the Zhenan District Police Department formally arrested him in late July, 2020.
Ms. Chen Guifang, 59, was harassed at home by officers from the Xingfu Road Police Station on July 31, 2020. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, copies of Minghui Weekly, and other belongings.
When Ms. Chen left home on August 4, 2020, plainclothes officers arrested her and took her to the Longshou Police Department. Her hands and feet were handcuffed and she was interrogated. She was taken to a detention center for five days of detention. Five days later, she was taken to her neighborhood and delivered to local officers.
Ms. Wang Chaxing of Chongqing was arrested by Feng Hua, Liu Feng, and others from the Beibei District Domestic Security Division on the morning of May 12, 2020. She has been incarcerated in the Beibei District Detention Center.
Threatening and bullying from officers and guards damaged Ms. Wang’s health while she was in prison. Her entire body shows symptoms of itching, which keeps her awake all night. Her lawyer visited her in late June, 2020, and submitted a medical bail plea. The Beibei Police Department denied it, citing that she was able to take care of herself.
Her lawyer visited her again on the afternoon of August 7, and saw that she had become emaciated, and her appearance had changed. The inmates who shared the cell with her were afraid of getting infected, and stayed away from her.
Mr. Ma Zhiwu of Yinchuan City visited family in his hometown of Guyuan City on June 5, 2020. He was arrested and taken to the Guyan City Detention Center by Yang Fuchun and others from the Yuanzhou District Domestic Security Division, Guyuan City. The Yuanzhou District Procuratorate issued an arrest warrant for him on June 25.
Mr. Ma went on hunger strike to protest the persecution, and was forced-fed several times. His nasal passage was punctured and bleeding. His family pleaded several times in vain to the Domestic Security Division and the detention center, and hired a lawyer. The lawyer requested to meet with Mr. Ma, but Yang Fuchun denied it. The lawyer requested again, and Yang denied it again, claiming “For security reasons, no meetings are allowed when a case is under investigation.”
Ms. Wang Wenjun was arrested at home by officers from the Shangyu District Domestic Security Division and a police station on August 4, 2020. On August 5, her family learned that she was in criminal detention. She will be taken to a brainwashing center on August 6.
Ms. Liu Guifen of Jinan City was arrested by officers from the Xinzhuang Police Station on May 13, 2020. Her home was ransacked. She was released after mid-night.
The police monitored her secretly after her release. As a result many practitioners were harassed.
Mr. Zhao Lijun of Changchun City was arrested by officers from the Tongyang Road Police Station on August 6, 2020.
Mr. Wang Chao’s parents were harassed at home by agents from the Erqi Road Neighborhood Committee on August 3, 2020. The agents called Mr. Wang’s wife around August 12, to summon him to meet with the neighborhood committee. They demanded she persuade Mr. Wang to give up his belief, and threatened to destroy their child’s school education and her life if Mr. Wang did not stop practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Hong of Dandong City was arrested by officers from the Dandong Economy Zone Police Department in early August, 2020. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books, a picture of Falun Gong's founder, and other belongings were confiscated. She was released on bail the same day after her family’s plea.
Mr. Teng Yiquan was charged by Huanghua City Domestic Security Division head Cao Fengsen, court president Gong Changhua, and others on the morning of August 11, 2020. Mr. Teng was charged for hanging Falun Gong banners on March 2, 2018.
Mr. Kang Zisheng’s home was ransacked by agents from the Madianzi Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee and officers from the police station on August 9, 2020. They did not show any documents and seized several copies of Minghui Weekly.
Ms. Lu Qiaoli of Jieyang City was arrested by officers from the Dongsheng Police Station on August 9, 2020.
Ms. Zeng Xiangyue, Ms. Tong Xiulan, and Ms. Li Haiying of Tangshan City were arrested at around 5:00 a.m. on August 12, 2020, and their homes were ransacked. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Yao Yuyan of Changchun City was arrested. She managed to escape from the police station after 7:00 a.m. on August 8, 2020.
Mr. Song Mingyang, Ms. Yao's son, got a call from Kuancheng District Police Department on the afternoon of August 11, 2020. The police extorted 10,000 yuan as a guarantee from him, and held him until midnight. They threatened to take his guarantee money and put Ms. Yao’s name on the police wanted list online if he could not find his mother in three months. Furthermore, they threatened to give his father, Mr. Song Yang, a heavy sentence for helping his mother escape.
Officers from the Lisui Police Station ordered Mr. Liu Zejiang to move out in three days, by around July 8, 2020. The officers threatened to fine the landlord 5,000 yuan if Mr. Liu did not move out on time.
Mr. Liu has been forced to move out of rental home eight times in five years. In 2019, he was forced to move four times. As a result, his father, who lived with him, became depressed, suffered a mental breakdown, and died on May 25, 2020.
Ms. Sun Jianping, Ms. Sun Cuiping, and Ms. Sun Yanping, three sisters who live in Tianjin, were arrested by officers from the Yuelong Police Station on the morning of August 12, 2020. Their home was ransacked.
Ms. Zhang Jianxia from Tianjin was phoned by village security personnel around 8:30 p.m. on August 3, 2020. They tried to persuade her to give up practicing Falun Gong. On the morning of August 4, two officers from Zhongbei Town accompanied nine agents from Comprehensive Management Offices of the city, district, and town, as well as village securities, and came to Ms. Zhang’s home. Her family and relatives suffered psychological trauma.
Mr. Li Yuandong was arrested by officers from the Haizhu District Police Department and the Shayuan Police Station on July 9, 2019 for giving out Falun Gong flyers. He has been held in the Haizhu District Detention Center. He will stand trial on the morning of August 19, 2020.
Ms. Dong Guilian of Tangshan City was arrested at 7:00 a.m. on August 12, 2020. She is sick as a result of being persecuted and was admitted to a hospital. Officers from the local police station station accompanied her to the hospital to monitor her.
Ms. Yu Xiaowe of Changchun City was arrested by officers from the Nanhu Police Station on the afternoon of July 28, 2020, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in a bus station. She was detained for 15 days in the Weizigou Detention Center. She was taken to the police station at noon on August 11. Her family went there to take her home in the afternoon, but did not see her. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Li Xiaojuan, in her 60s, from Yitong County, was arrested by officers from the Liaoyuan City Domestic Security Division on August 10, 2020. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Zhang Lijuan and her son, Mr. Cao Boyu, were arrested on July 20, 2020. Their home was ransacked. Ms. Zhang's car was seized. They are being held in the Liaoyuan City Detention Center.
Ms. Ren Xiulan of Bayuquan District, Yingkou City will be tried in the Yingkou City Detention Center by the Zhanqian Court on the morning of August 14, 2020.
Ms. Ren Xiulan and Mr. Qiao Yongsheng were arrested at home in March, 2020. Mr. Qiao was released. Ms. Ren has been held in the Yingkou City Detention Center.
Mr. Jin Changlin’s case was submitted to Wujiang Court in early August, 2020.
Mr. Tian Shujun of Qinhuangdao City was arrested by officers from the Hedong Police Station. He was taken to the Qinhuangdao Detention Center for 15 days of detention. More than 15 days have passed, but he is still being held there.
Ms. Ji Guizhen of Suzhou City was tried in the Wujiang Court on the afternoon of August 11, 2020. The court adjourned without a verdict.
