(Minghui.org) A 64-year-old retired worker in Maoming City, Guangdong Province, was recently sentenced to three years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Pan Peide was deceived into opening the door by police officers pretending to be delivery men on September 16, 2019. Eight officers searched his place and arrested him. They took him to his other residence and ransacked it as well. In the evening, Mr. Pan was interrogated at the Kaifa District Police Department without being given any food or water.
Mr. Pan was admitted to the Maoming City No.1 Detention Center the next day. His family received his criminal detention notice on September 18.
When Mr. Pan’s two sons went to the property management office to see the video recording of their father’s arrest, a staff person told them that the police had already made them delete the video.
It was reported that the Maoming 610 Office, an extra-legal agency created specifically to persecute Falun Gong, had been monitoring Mr. Pan since April 2019.
The Maonan District Procuratorate indicted Mr. Pan and moved his case to the Maonan District Court in late January 2020.
Mr. Pan appeared in court on November 24. After more than a year of detention, he was so weak that he was unable to walk on his own. Presiding judge Ke Xuejun sentenced him to three years in prison on December 17.
