(Minghui.org) Four Falun Gong practitioners and a family member in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province were recently sentenced to prison after one and a half years of detention.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wu Guibo, in her 50s, Ms. Feng Shuhuan, around 60, Ms. Yu Ping, Ms. Dai Shihua and her family member Ms. Dai Shiling (who doesn’t practice Falun Gong) were arrested on April 22, 2019.
Three months later, the police submitted their case to the Nangang District Procuratorate, which in turn transferred the case to the Daoli District Procuratorate in September 19. The prosecutor returned their case to the police for insufficient evidence a month later, before eventually indicting them.
The five were tried by the Daoli District Court on November 24, 2020 through a video conference with the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center. Three lawyers entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the defendants.
The judge recently announced the verdicts:
Ms. Yu was sentenced to four years.Ms. Dai Shihua was sentenced to three years.Ms. Feng was sentenced to two and a half years. Ms. Wu and Ms. Dai Shiling were each sentenced to twenty-two months.
