(Minghui.org) A Jiaozuo City, Henan Province resident was sentenced to 3.5 years on September 29, 2021 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wei Zhihua, 58, was arrested at home on June 3, 2021 by officers from the Shanyang Domestic Security Office. Her Falun Gong books and informational materials were confiscated.
The Jiaozuo City Police Department later approved Ms. Wei’s arrest with the charge of “undermining law enforcement with a cult organization,” the standard pretext used to criminalize Falun Gong practitioners. She was held at the Jiaozuo City Detention Center.
The Shanyang Procuratorate returned Ms. Wei’s case to the police in late July, citing insufficient evidence. The police later submitted her case again, but to the Jiefang District Procuratorate.
Ms. Wei appeared in the Jiefang District Court on September 29, 2021 and was sentenced to 3.5 years.
