(Minghui.org) I am 78 years old, and have lived in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province for more than 60 years. On July 20, 2021, the day of the record flood, I helped a total of eight people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Although I encountered some danger, someone always came to help me at critical moments. I knew that Master must have been protecting me. I would like to share the stories from that day.
Our local Falun Dafa practitioners read Dafa teachings in person once a week. The place we gather is far away from my home. As I hold the key for that place, I always get there early to open the door for everyone.
When I left my house that afternoon, it was already raining, but not heavily. I arrived on time, yet no one else had showed up when it was time to begin. By then I realized that they could not come due to the heavy rain, so I decided to go home. The water already covered my knees when I stepped out.
Fortunately, my first bus came quickly. There happened to be an empty seat nearby, so I sat down. Very soon, a grandma got on the bus with a baby and her daughter-in-law. I stood up and gave her my seat. After finding out that I was older than she was, they felt embarrassed. But I told them that I was very healthy because I cultivated in Falun Dafa.
I shared how Dafa cured all my illnesses, and taught me to be a good person by being kind and mindful of others’ needs. I then explained to them that by repeating, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good, Falun Dafa is good,” they could be protected, and also have a bright future. They readily agreed, and thanked me.
The rain was even heavier after I got off the bus, but I was only half way home. I stood by the guardrail in the middle section of a street waiting for someone to help me get to my next bus stop. Very soon, a young woman on a bicycle came over. She picked me up after I asked her to help me.
She told me that she had joined the CCP’s Youth League and Young Pioneers. I explained to her that if she sincerely quit these organizations, she would be protected. I also told her to remember “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good, Falun Dafa is good.” She agreed to quit and promised that she would repeat the phrases. We departed when we arrived at my next bus stop.
It turned out that many people had been there for a long time, and nobody knew if the bus was still running. A middle-aged woman asked me to walk with her, but I told her that I wanted to wait a little longer because I was still far from home. I asked her if she had joined the CCP organizations and told her about the benefits of withdrawing from these organizations. She thanked me for the information, and then left.
The rain was pouring down like dogs and cats by then. A group of people began to walk eastward toward where my home was located, so I followed them. By then, the flood water had reached my waist.
I ended up walking with two girls. They were co-workers. We helped each other wade across the currents to the other side of the road. I told them to repeat “Falun Dafa is good” to protect their lives.
We then moved to the center section of a street but the fence in the center blocked us from crossing. Meanwhile, the currents had reached our chests, and were rushing down the streets quickly. So we decided to walk separately to each end of the tall fence to look for an opening. One girl walked southbound, and I followed the other girl walking north.
At this moment, the water level was so high that raising one foot could cause us to trip and fall, and be washed away. I told the girl to stick her feet firmly on the ground while dragging our legs forward.
After finally crossing the street, we soon arrived at the girl’s apartment complex. She invited me to stay with her for the night as it was too dangerous for me to walk home by myself.
The courtyard of her apartment complex was also flooded, and the power was out. When she opened the door to her apartment on the 7th floor, we were surprised that her unit had electricity. I knew that Master must be taking care of us.
She gave me her pajama to wear, as my clothes were all wet. I told her about my poor health, but that I had been illness free for over 20 years since I started cultivating in Dafa.
I decided to go home early the next morning, even though it was still raining. The flood waters were still very high, but there were no more rapids.
I was six and a half bus stops away from my house. I waded through the flood waters while repeating “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Many people were stranded on the roadside overnight. I moved alongside a young man by holding onto his clothes to prevent me from falling. When I was about two bus stops away from home, I asked him if he had joined any of the CCP’s organizations, and told him why it was important to withdraw from them. He happily replied, “It’s good to quit. It’s useless to be part of CCP’s organizations anyway. Thank you!”
After parting with the young man, I encountered a restaurant owner. I clarified the truth to him, and urged him to quit the CCP’s organizations. He commented, “Your mind is still so sharp at your age, and you’re still strong and healthy. That’s incredible!” He quit right away, and walked with me all the way to the entrance of my apartment building.
Master told us,
“When I practiced cultivation in the past, many great masters told me these words, and they said, ‘When it’s difficult to endure, you can endure it. When it’s impossible to do, you can do it.’ In fact, that is how it is. Why don’t you give it a try when you return home? When you are overcoming a real hardship or tribulation, you try it. When it is difficult to endure, try to endure it. When it looks impossible and is said to be impossible, give it a try and see if it is possible. If you can actually do it, you will indeed find, ‘After passing the shady willow trees, there will be bright flowers and another village ahead!’” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
I am very grateful for Master’s protection during this dangerous time. I am grateful for ordinary people who offered their helping hands.
