(Minghui.org) A 48-year-old Dongping County, Shandong Province resident was imprisoned on January 18, 2021, to serve a three-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Su Xiuying was followed by the police on March 7, 2019, after they saw her distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police arrested her in the evening and took her to the Wali Detention Center. She was released on March 13 after six days of detention.
The police and village officials continued to harass Ms. Su after she returned home. The harassment caused her father tremendous mental distress. He suffered a stroke in May 2019. After months of recovery, he regained some mobility.
The police and village officials harassed Ms. Su’s parents on February 22, 2020, and confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and a speaker that she used to play Falun Gong exercise music. Ms. Su’s mother was so terrified by the raid that she passed away in the evening.
Ms. Su was taken to the Liangshan County Procuratorate to answer some questions on April 13, 2020. She was arrested again and taken back into custody on October 19. Days before her latest arrest, two court staff members delivered a hearing notice to her.
Ms. Su’s family recently learned that she was sentenced to three years by the Liangshan County Court and taken to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on January 18, 2021. The prison is now blocking her family from visiting her.
