(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old man in Linxia County, Gansu Province was sentenced to four years and fined 3,000 yuan in late December 2020 for his faith in Falun Gong. He is now appealing the case with the Intermediate Court of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Jia Chunzhen’s sentencing by the Linxia County Court came eight months after his arrest in April 2020. More details about his case remain to be investigated at the time of writing.
Prior to his latest persecution, Mr. Jia was arrested on June 9, 2012, and sentenced to five years on November 12. The police continued to harass him after he was released from the Tianshui Prison on June 10, 2017.
Mr. Jia was arrested again on June 21, 2019. His Falun Gong books, a music player, two flash-drives, and over ten bags of vegetable seeds were confiscated. The police also tore down two pairs of decoration couplets at his home.
