(Minghui.org) Having lived away from home for six years for upholding her belief, a Qingzhou City, Shandong Province resident returned home after the local procuratorate dropped her case for practicing Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Ma Yuqin, 62, was arrested on November 12, 2014 after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. Days after she was released, the authorities informed her that she was scheduled to appear in court the next day.
Fearing being sentenced, Ms. Ma decided to live away from home. After six years of living in hiding, she was arrested while walking on the street in Sanhe City, Hebei Province on December 2, 2020. The Qingzhou police traveled to Sanhe and brought her back the next day. On December 4, Ms. Ma was tried and sentenced to three years with a 5,000-yuan fine. As the Changyi Detention Center refused to accept her due to her high blood pressure, she was released the same day.
A few days later, the court informed Ms. Ma that the procuratorate had decided to withdraw the charges against her and the judge also agreed to retract her verdict and declared her a free woman.
