(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a Jilin City, Jilin Province resident has been sentenced to two years for her faith in Falun Gong following a court hearing on September 24, 2020.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Shuzhi, the owner of a fabric store, was arrested at home at 7 a.m. on July 18, 2020. Ms. Liu clarified the facts about Falun Gong to the police and urged them not to persecute her. The police responded, “We don’t have the say. It’s an order from the province.”
When Ms. Liu’s son, who was woken up by the police, tried to prevent them from taking his mother away, the police also arrested him. They also confiscated Ms. Liu’s Falun Gong related items and took away her over 10,000 yuan in cash.
Ms. Liu’s family later went to the local police station to demand her release. The police said that they had sought instructions from above and were told that they couldn’t release her even if she died in custody. They also said to her family, “We have been following her for many days. If we don’t have any evidence, how can we arrest her?”
A few days prior to her arrest, a staff member from the residential committee had urged Ms. Liu to change her address to another district, so that they don’t have her as a Falun Gong practitioner on their record. Ms. Liu refused to comply and clarified the facts about Falun Gong. That staff member recorded their conversation and submitted the audiotape to the police, who later used the tape as prosecution evidence against her for promoting Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu was detained at the Jilin City Detention Center after her arrest. She was tried on September 24, 2020 and later sentenced to two years. She has been taken to the prison at the time of writing.
