(Minghui.org) In the past 22 years of persecution against Falun Gong, Ms. Sun Yishu has been arrested and detained multiple times for her faith. She was also given two years of forced labor and sentenced to five years in prison.
Below are some details of her persecution.
Ms. Sun, a former textile factory worker in Lu’an City, Anhui Province, took up Falun Gong, an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline, in December 1998. She has been living with her daughter in Hefei City in the same province in the past few years.
Ms. Sun was first arrested in 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was taken back to Anhui and detained for over nine months.
Ms. Sun lived away from home in spring 2001 to avoid further persecution, only to be arrested again in June 2001 and given two years of forced labor. Because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, she was held in a “transformation class” and subjected to intensive brainwashing for over seven months.
Ms. Sun was arrested again in May 2005 after being reported by a relative for talking to her about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to five years.
Ms. Sun’s next arrest was on May 2, 2017, when she was studying Falun Gong’s teachings with other practitioners. She was held at the Hefei City Detention Center for ten days this time.
Plainclothes officers from Lu’an City harassed her on September 26, 2020, and asked her many personal questions, including who owns the apartment where she lives in Hefei, whether she received a pension, whether she had contacts with local Falun Gong practitioners, and whether she still went back to Lu’an.
As they were talking, the police videotaped her with their cellphones and a mini camera. They came back again that afternoon and on the afternoon of September 29, but Ms. Sun refused to open the door.
