(Minghui.org) At least four Liaocheng City, Shandong Province residents are facing prosecution for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
A dozen officers broke into Ms. Hua Liqin’s home at around 9 p.m. on October 16, 2020 and arrested Ms. Hua and six other practitioners, who were there to study Falun Gong’s teachings together.
The seven practitioners, including Ms. Hua, Ms. Hua’s husband, Ms. Chen Jun, Ms. Sun Xiue, Ms. Li Guihua, Mr. Zhang Liang and Mr. Xu Shaohua, were taken to the Train Station Police Station. The police ransacked their homes that evening and on the next day. Their Falun Gong books, related materials and other personal properties were confiscated.
On October 17, another practitioner, Ms. Guo Xiuping, was arrested. Her home was also ransacked and her Falun Gong books, materials, her child’s computer, printer and copy paper, were confiscated. Her family went to the police station twice and demanded that they return the confiscated items, but to no avail.
The police collected fingerprints from all eight practitioners and ordered each one of them to pay 10,000 yuan bail bond. By the evening of October 17, all of them had been released on bail. The police ordered the practitioners to keep their cellphones on so as to respond to police orders at any time.
A dozen officers ransacked the homes of Ms. Chen, Ms. Lu Fengyun, 85, Ms. Lin Haiyan, nearly 80, on November 11. Their Falun Gong books and some banknotes printed with information about Falun Gong (as a way to overcome strict information censorship and raise awareness about the persecution) were confiscated. The police attempted to harass three other practitioners, but had to give up as they weren’t home. Ms. Chen was taken to the police station in the afternoon and had her photo taken. She was released in the evening.
The police called and harassed the practitioners on January 12, 2021. They asked the practitioners to come to the police station on the next day to take back their bail bond. When Ms. Sun, Ms. Li and Ms. Guo went there, they were arrested and taken to the Chiping District Detention Center. Their families were asked to come to the police station to pick up their personal belongings and detention notice on the next day.
Ms. Chen and Ms. Lu were harassed again on January 13. Ms. Lu had her home ransacked for the third time in recent months.
Ms. Chen was arrested and taken back into custody on January 20.
Now the arrests of the four practitioners, including Ms. Sun, Ms. Li, Ms. Guo and Ms. Chen, have been approved and they are facing further prosecution for their faith.
