(Minghui.org) A Shenyang City, Liaoning Province resident was recently sentenced to four years for practicing Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Li Shuping, 66, was seized from her home on July 10, 2019, during a group arrest. The police claimed that the arrests were made in order to “maintain social stability” prior to the 70th anniversary of the Chinese communist regime's rule.
While being held at the Shenyang City Detention Center, Ms. Li developed a severe heart condition and glucose metabolism disorder. After the guards force-fed her with unknown drugs, her dizziness from the conditions became even worse.
Ms. Li was tried by the Heping District Court through a video conference on December 16, 2020, after one and a half years of detention. The judge sentenced her to four years in January 2021. She has appealed the verdict.
Ms. Li took up Falun Gong in 1998. She was previously arrested on July 19, 2010, in Beijing while temporarily staying there. The Beijing police gave her two years at the Beijing Women’s Forced Labor Camp.
There, guard Yu Xinyue forced many practitioners to go into wetlands in the morning to pull grasses. The cold water caused so much joint pain and back pain in Ms. Li that she was still crippled when she was released in 2013.
