(Minghui.org) A 65-year-old woman in Tieling City, Liaoning Province, was taken to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in early February 2021 to serve a three-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Qingxiang was arrested on May 11, 2020, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was held in the Tieling City Detention Center and sentenced to three years by the Qinghe District Court in August 2020.
Ms. Liu’s latest sentencing came three years after she served another three-year term given by the same Qinghe District Court on April 10, 2015. She was previously arrested on November 1, 2014, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong.
Prior to that, she served one year in the notorious, now-defunct Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and another five-year prison term.
While she was held at the Masanjia Forced labor Camp, the guards forced her to squat, with the toes of her feet lifted and her hands touching her heels. She was ordered to maintain this posture from morning until midnight, while the inmates watched her.
Ms. Liu held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was force-fed. The guards tied her up in a spread-eagle position, held her head and upper body, and then inserted a feeding tube into her nose. Her nose and mouth bled terribly.
On one occasion, the guards stripped Ms. Liu down to her underwear and forced her to sit in the snow for hours. On another occasion, the guards handcuffed her to a radiator so that she couldn’t stand up or sit down for days.

When Ms. Liu did the Falun Gong exercises, the guards tied her up and shocked her with electric batons on her back, neck, ears, face, hands, and soles of her feet. She suffered a severe mental collapse in less than a year and was then released.
