(Minghui.org) Another practitioner and I were walking to the market to talk to people about Falun Dafa and the persecution when I accidentally stepped into a puddle and lost my balance. The other practitioner tried to catch me but I fell down and tore my pants. I got up and we left the market. She said, “You just said something that was not right.”
On a previous occasion, the practitioner had bought a bunch of leeks. I told her, “Leeks are considered taboo.” Then I talked about the origin of leeks. When she asked me how I knew about them, I said, “I read it in Buddhist storybooks before I started cultivating in Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong).” She said, “Don't talk about that again. This is mixing in another cultivation discipline.” I thought she was making a fuss about nothing and didn’t pay much attention to what she’d sid.
After I tripped and fell, she said, “Your fall was caused by something from another discipline harming you. You should look inside for the reason.”
As I headed home, I kept thinking, “Why did I fall so hard? What’s the reason?” A thought came to mind, “It was the bad things on the other practitioner's body that harmed you. Because you talked with her and were exposed to those bad things. You don’t need to look inside any further.” I felt happy and stopped thinking about what had happened and why. However, that thought seemed a little strange, but I didn't think about it any further.
When I got home, my sister asked me how I tore my pants. I told her I’d fallen and she saw I was bleeding. She said, “That was a nasty fall.” I thought to myself, “It would have been much worse if Master hadn't protected me.” My sister is also a practitioner. When I told her what had happened she said, “You need to look inside for the reason. Don’t blame it on the other practitioner.” I agreed.
“One righteous mind can subdue one hundred evils.” I realized that no one could move me if I kept righteous thoughts and that I had to correct myself. I read the Fa and kept looking inside for why I fell, but couldn’t find a problem. I begged Master for help: “Master, please help me to identify my problem.”
One day, a practitioner called me and told me that a practitioner we knew had suddenly passed away. I was shocked. The death made me think deeply.
I recalled that in 2006, the practitioner who passed away showed me an article. She said it was written by Master’s “big disciple” and told me that it was very good. I had never heard of any “big disciple” and asked her where the article came from. She said, “I got it from an ordinary website.”
I said, “I don’t want to read it. I only read articles from the Minghui website. When I have spare time I read the Fa more.”
She seemed very attached to this article and tried several times to get me to read it. I refused. I knew that her insistence was inappropriate, but I wasn't sure exactly what was wrong, so I didn’t stop her from talking about it again. I didn't even think about the principle of “no second discipline,” which means we should follow only one cultivation way.
I also recalled that while I was imprisoned for my faith four years before, I’d read a book on Buddhism and thought that it was good. The practitioner’s death alerted me, and I suddenly understood the seriousness of cultivation and of remembering “no second discipline.”
I spoke to my sister, who said, “When you read the principles of another discipline and think they are good, bad things get on you and interfere with you. It would be even worse if the book was written by possessing spirits. Master has taught us the Law of the Universe. What you read cannot compare to the Fa. You should quickly admit your mistakes to Master.”
We then sent righteous thoughts together. I felt Master’s great compassion as soon as we finished. Thank you, Master.
I had an older sister who worshiped an animal spirit before she started cultivating Dafa. After nearly 20 years of cultivation, she was still very emotionally attached to her children and grandchildren, so something from another dimension interfered with her. A voice from another dimension told her, “Your world is exploding. You should do the exercises more.” Because she believed what it said, the entity was able to keep interfering with her. In the end, she died suddenly.
Such interference disturbs our minds if we have attachments that we fail to discard over time. If we keep reading the Fa and are able to consider things based on the Fa, we will be able to recognize interference and eliminate it.
My older brother and his wife started cultivating Dafa in 1998 but stopped in 1999. In 2018, my brother developed facial paralysis. When he asked me what to do, I said, “Come stay with me for a while.” I wanted to help him and his wife start cultivating Dafa again.
My brother wore a Buddhist amulet he got from a temple. I said, “You are now cultivating Dafa. Don’t wear that anymore.” While staying with me, the couple started reading the Fa and doing the exercises, and my brother soon recovered. He and his wife were very happy and said, “Falun Dafa is good. We will read the Fa and do the exercises diligently when we get home.”
About six months after they returned home, my brother suddenly died in a car accident. While we were visiting, my sister-in-law told us that he had not been diligent and had played games on his smartphone.
They didn't have a copy of Zhuan Falun or any other Dafa books. When they left my home, they didn't take the books with them because they were flying back and were afraid airport security might find them when they checked their luggage. I told them, “After you get home, if you meet any practitioners, you can ask them for copies of the Dafa books.”
My sister-in-law called me one day and said, “I met two female practitioners who agreed to help us get the Dafa books.” However, the practitioners never showed up. I wanted to mail the books but was unable to because of interference. I was waiting for an opportunity to deliver the books to them in person. However, my brother passed away before I could.
My father also practiced Falun Gong before he passed away a dozen years ago. He used to worship his ancestors every Chinese New Year. We did not try to stop him because we did not clearly understand the importance of adhering to “no second discipline” at the time. Later, when we shared our thoughts about my brother passing away, we realized that interference from the other discipline was a contributing factor. Cultivation is very serious.
When the grandson of a local practitioner was two years old, an adult in the family took the child out. When they returned, the child was crying. The practitioner said, “He met something that frightened his spirit away.” Two other practitioners said, “Let’s call his spirit back tonight.” Their comments seemed trivial, but how could Dafa practitioners believe in those low-level spirit things? The practitioner recognized her mistake when I pointed it out to her. She quickly admitted her error to Master.
Another practitioner went around telling people, “My son studies Zhou Yi and tells fortunes very accurately.” She also told people that she watched a TV series and thought highly of the protagonist. She said she improved from watching the TV show. She improved from watching an ordinary TV series? Practitioners improve through reading the Fa and improving our character.
All the examples I mentioned show the need to pay attention to the principle of “no second discipline.” Cultivation is very serious. If one cannot cultivate based on the Fa and cannot understand things based on the Fa, he will be interfered with.
