(Minghui.org) As soon as a married couple in Xingning City, Guangdong Province returned home from visiting a community fair on April 7, 2021, a group of officers who had been waiting outside broke in and ransacked the residence.
The police confiscated Ms. Zeng Yuefang’s Falun Gong books and arrested her. They left her husband alone and took her to the Xingning City Detention Center.
This wasn’t the first time that Ms. Zeng has been targeted for practicing Falun Gong, which she credits for curing her severe blood disorder and saving her life.
Ms. Zeng, 50, began to practice Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline, in 1995. She used to have a severe blood disorder. It always took a long time to stop the bleeding, even after a minor cut. Her menstrual period was usually extended to two weeks in length. The excessive bleeding caused her to become haggard and emaciated. At the same time, she suffered from goiter and constantly felt hungry. Due to the physical suffering, she was very weak and irritable. Her parents took her to many hospitals to look for cures, only to be told by the doctor to go home.
In the spring of 1995, Ms. Zeng was introduced to Falun Gong and soon regained her health. Many of her neighbors said it was a miracle that she recovered. She strove to live by the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance,” and became more serene and peaceful.
Four years later, in July 1999, as Falun Gong gained overwhelming popularity, the Chinese communist regime ordered a nationwide persecution campaign to eradicate the practice from China.
Because Ms. Zeng held firm to her faith in Falun Gong, her husband was implicated and fired by Huizhou University, where he worked.
Around April 2003, Ms. Zeng was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong at a bus station. She was held at the Xingning Detention Center for three months, and then given a three-year labor camp term.
Although she resisted the persecution and was soon released, she was arrested again in April 2004 and persecuted at a brainwashing center.
A group of officers broke into Ms. Zeng’s home on October 12, 2017 and searched the place. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings, tore off the painting on the wall with information about Falun Gong, and threatened to take Ms. Zeng to the brainwashing center again.
