(Minghui.org) There is a Chinese saying, “the thunder god has eyes and ears.” It means that when a person does evil deeds, the heaven will punish him sooner or later. This belief goes back to ancient times. The thunder god was believed to be in charge of protecting good people and punishing bad ones. There were stories in ancient times, and also in modern days.
Zhang Feng Struck by Lightning
Zhang Feng was a local official during Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). He was very eloquent and good at writing. He was well versed in legal matters. He knew everything there was to know about land taxes and all the households in his jurisdiction. He could make a person lose all his land in no time. People under his jurisdiction dared not complain about him. If they said it in the morning, the tax collectors would come to the door at night.
Zhang was especially good at exploiting people. Whenever his superior came to inspect, it never took long before he became in good standing with his superior. In the end, the superior always listened to him. He even taught his superiors how to exploit people's money. After they got the money, he would split it with his superiors. Therefore Zhang Feng was very wealthy.
The governor heard about Zhang and sent people with good martial arts skill to apprehend him. Zhang was arrested. After the people who arrested him refused his bribery, Zhang managed to escape. Although it was a clear day without a single piece of cloud in the sky, a terrifying thunder sounded and Zhang was struck by lightning. People believed that Heaven was punishing Zhang Feng for all the bad deeds he had committed.
Retribution for Persecuting Falun Gong
When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) in 1999, many Chinese people believed the lies from the government. Some actively participated in the persecution. Unfortunately, the consequences were severe.
Zheng Youkui was the director of Comprehensive Management Office at Deyuang Township of Sichuan Province. He was very active in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and was rewarded for his effort with bonuses and promotions by the government. Although many practitioners urged him not to follow the CCP, he did not change his mind. On the evening of May 21, 2006, Zheng was walking along with several village officials when a bolt of lightening struck him. He died instantly at the age of 42.
Chen Jingqiang, deputy director of Kangping Courty Court in Liaoning Province, distorted facts and wrongfully sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Wang Jinfeng and Li Xiaoping to 7 and 3 years in prison, respectively, in 2010. A month later, he and another court official was investigated for accepting bribes from the mafia. Because he was hospitalized due to a car accident at the time, he avoided the prosecution of the bribery case. Chen was given probation and lost his job. Four years later in August 2014, Chen was struck by lightning on a fishing trip and died.
Zhang Tongxin was an art teacher from No. 68 Middle School at Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He organized students to partake in a signature campaign that slandered Falun Gong. He also drew some cartoons attacking Falun Gong’s founder. In the summer of 2003, Zhang encountered a thunderstorm during a fishing trip. He hid from the rain under a tree. There was a burst of lightning and Zhang was struck and died with a hole on his head. His body was badly burnt.
Li Zhongde, head of the Finance Office at Laixi City of Shandong Province, wrote a poem defaming Falun Gong in 2000. He died after being struck by lightning while working in the field.
Tan Chaoquan, a veteran in Guangdong Province, worked at a brainwashing center set up for Falun Gong practitioners. One night a tree branch fell on his head after a lightning strike. Tan lost his memory and suffered permanent brain damage.
