(Minghui.org) The authorities in Yaodu District, Linfen City, Shanxi Province have been hosting a new round of brainwashing classes at a local hotel since March 15, 2021, in an attempt to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

This is the second time that the authorities in Yaodu District have hosted such brainwashing classes. It’s reported that the authorities have 20-30 local Falun Gong practitioners on its list.
Three practitioners, including Ms. Guo Fenglian, Mr. Wei Xuejun and Ms. Lu Jie, were the victims of the first brainwashing session. As Mr. Wei refused to renounce Falun Gong by the end of the first session, he was taken back to attend the second session together with Mr. Song Wanlin. Several other practitioners have also received calls from the authorities to attend the brainwashing classes.
In these classes, perpetrators use deceit and intimidation to coerce the practitioners. When the practitioners refuse to comply, the perpetrators threaten their children’s or grandchildren’s jobs or college education.
The authorities also hired Qiao Jinhua, who practiced Falun Gong before but had given it up, to brainwash the practitioners. Qiao once bragged that she had successfully “transformed” Ms. Xu Ling of Huozhou City. She also revealed that she receives a 10,000-yuan award for each practitioner she “transformed.” The authorities also cover her travel costs to go from Yangquan to Linfen (about 240 miles apart) and hotel expenses.
Qiao estimated that the authorities spend 30,000 to 40,000 yuan on each practitioner during the session, including the living expenses of other staff members. All of the expenses were paid by the Linfen City Domestic Security Division, according to its head Wang Lisheng.
