(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a Jieyang City, Guangdong Province resident was sentenced to one year and eight months in the second half of 2020 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Xirou was arrested on February 11, 2020 after being spotted by two village security guards for talking to some villagers about Falun Gong. Although another practitioner who went with her, Ms. Cai Hui, escaped the arrest, she was arrested a week later after the police located her through surveillance videos.
Ms. Wang has been held at Jiedong District Detention Center since then. Ms. Cai exhibited very high blood pressure and heart palpitations in the same detention center and has been released on bail.
When the police ransacked Ms. Wang’s home, they also looked for her car. Ms. Wang’s family said that she was riding a motorcycle, not driving the car, when she was arrested. They suspected that the police were intending to associate their car with her case and then impound it.
The police later submitted Ms. Wang’s case to the Jiedong District Procuratorate, which indicted her and moved her case to the Jiedong District Court. The judge sentenced her to one year and eight months in late 2020.
In the second half of 2020, the Jiedong District Procuratorate and Jiedong District Court, both of which have been assigned to handle most Falun Gong cases in the region, worked to sentence several Falun Gong practitioners to prison.
Ms. Wu Yujuan and Ms. Lu Qiaoli were both given four and a half years. Mr. Huang Jianmin was sentenced to four years and his wife Ms. Peng Wenjian received three and a half years.
Two more practitioners, Ms. Wang Yanjuan and Ms. Lin Liqing, were sentenced to three years and one month and two years, respectively. Although Ms. Wang has been released on medical parole due to a serious medical condition, the authorities refused to release Ms. Lin despite her cancer diagnosis while in custody.
