(Minghui.org) I was born in a rural area in Beijing. After I grew up, I developed a strange illness. I had headaches, dizziness, toothache, leg and back pain. I would pass out from time to time without any warning. The most miserable experience was the pneumonia that relapsed every year and kept me bedridden for at least ten days each time.
In 1993, the Oriental Health Expo was held at the Beijing International Exhibition Center. I went there to explore different qigong schools. Most booths had very little traffic, but the Falun Gong booth was surrounded by people. I was curious and watched the Master of Falun Gong healing patients.
Three family members pushed a man in a wheelchair to the booth. Two women helped the man up. Master Li told them to let the man stand on his own. They wouldn't, fearing that the man might fall. Master said, “How can I help him if you hold onto him?” They let go of their hands. Master told the patient to go ahead and walk. He replied, “It has been twenty years. I’ve forgotten how to walk.” Master said, “When you start to walk, you will remember how to walk.” The patient lifted his legs, and he was able to walk again! His family members burst into tears, knelt on the ground, and thanked Master profusely.
A young Falun Gong practitioner in his 20s came over and said, “Master, my hand got bitten.” He was helping Master treating someone and had caught the entity in his hand from the patient's body. That entity screamed so loudly like a rat. It also bit the young practitioner. The skin on his hand turned black, and the bruise was moving up. Master said, “No problem. No worries.” He moved his hand downwards three times along the practitioner’s arm. Immediately, the dark color on the arm receded.
I walked around at noon and happened to meet Master. I politely greeted him, “Hello, Grand Master!” Master said: “What Grand Master? It’s Master!” I was puzzled. I had always felt “Master” was too ordinary and “Grand Master” would be more respectful. Why did Master ask me to call him “Master”?
Only after I began practicing Falun Gong a few years later did I realize that I should call him “Master.” Master already treated me as a disciple back then, long before I began practicing. My enlightenment quality was so poor that I did not realize it until years later.
I came down with pneumonia again in the spring of 1997. I was bedridden for a week and had severe shortness of breath and pain. My wife, who had already taken up Falun Gong, told me to get up and take a walk. I agreed. I passed by a Falun Gong exercise site and saw some practitioners doing the second exercise–holding the wheel above their heads.
I thought, “This qigong improves health and keeps people fit. Let me give it try too.” I imitated the person in front of me and raised my hands above my head. In a flash, I felt like a huge rock fell down from my head and disappeared on the ground. All the pain in my body was gone, and I was relaxed and refreshed!
I was stunned! How could it be? A disease that could not be cured by modern medicine disappeared just like this. How could it be possible? How amazing!
Gradually, after I began studying the teachings, I learned that Falun Gong can not only adjust and purify one's body but also improve one's character. It teaches people to be a better person, be kind and be considerate. I finally found my Master!
On July 20, 1999, when the former communist regime leader Jiang Zemin ordered the persecution of Falun Gong and spread propaganda to demonize the practice, I was not deterred as I knew very well what is good and what is bad. The mental and physical benefits I’d experienced myself from practicing Falun Gong can only speak to how great Falun Gong is.
My wife and I went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. We were arrested and detained for one month. After we returned home, our workplace ordered us to write “guarantee statements” to stop practicing Falun Gong. When we refused to comply, they fired us. Despite the persecution, we never wavered in our faith.
