(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 26 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 52 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Xu Dewu is being held at the Da County Detention Center. He received a court verdict delivered by Wang Ying, the Shuncheng District Court clerk, and a court officer on the morning of April 21, 2021. Mr. Xu was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 1,000 yuan.
Ms. Ai Chaoyu and her husband, Mr. Liu Wei, face a third hearing. It is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on April 27, 2021 in the Chenghua District Court.
Qiu Yunfeng (gender unknown), Wang Meiqing (gender unknown), Liu Xin’an (gender unknown), and Deng Yongmei (gender unknown) were reported when they distributed Falun Gong flyers. They were arrested by an officer from the Chaobuhu Police Station on the evening of April 14, 2021. They were taken to several police stations for interrogation and were held in the Zhijiang Prison Management Center for 14 days of quarantine.
Mr. Cao Huashan has been held in forced labor and sentenced several times since the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in July 1999. He was arrested again at the end of 2019. Police seized almost everything in his apartment. His family did not hear from him after June 2020. They eventually learned that he was held in Weinan Prison, but they were not allowed to visit him.
Mr. Cao held hunger strikes several times while he was imprisoned before. He was in exile for several years after being released. He is in poor health and his family is very worried about him.
Zhang Bingjun (gender unknown) and Zhang Sumei (gender unknown) were arrested by local police for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on November 11, 2020. They have been held in the Hengshui City Detention Center for more than five months. They are scheduled to be tried in Jing County.
Police tried to arrest Ms. Wang Zhongming and her sister Ms. Wang Zhongrong but failed because the family resisted. Officer Cao Lijun from the Sheli Police Station and five or six officers from the Acheng District Domestic Security Division went to Ms. Wang’s home at 6:00 a.m. on April 19, 2021. The door was locked, so they jumped over the fence. The family resisted their attempt to arrest the two sisters. The sisters’ elderly father was very frightened.
Zhang Shurui (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Nanshao Police Station in March 2021 for distributing Falun Gong flyers. Zhang is being held at the Changping District Detention Center.
Several practitioners, including Wang Chaoying (gender unknown), Guo Xiulan (gender unknown), and Zhang Lei (gender unknown), are being held in the Changping District Detention Center.
Sun Qing (gender unknown) was harassed at home after 5:00 p.m. on April 22, 2021. Xinlitun Village head Ma Yongkun followed orders given by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee and ordered Sun to sign three statements renouncing Falun Gong. They said that if Sun did not sign, Sun’s name would be submitted to the committee and police would arrest Sun. Sun refused.
Ms. Liu Xiaolian was arrested at her home by plainclothes officers from the Dongting Police Station on the morning of April 19, 2021. The officers seized dozens of Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, a computer, a music player, five cell phones, a printer, and her son’s computers. She was first taken to the police station, then to the Shuiguohu Police Station where she was interrogated the entire afternoon. At night, she was taken to a hospital and given a physical exam. The next morning she was taken to the Wuhan No. 1 Detention Center. The guards refused to admit her after reviewing her physical exam results. The officers then had her undergo another physical exam and tried to readmit her to the detention center. The guards rejected her again because of her health. The officers finally took her back to the Shuiguohu Police Station and notified her son to pick her up. She was released on bail after her son paid 2,000 yuan.
Officers from the local police station and clerks from the neighborhood committee went to the home of Wang Guihua (gender unknown) on the morning of April 22, 2021. They demanded Wang give up Falun Gong and sign their prepared “three statements” renouncing Falun Gong. After Wang refused, they arrested Wang and held Wang in the brainwashing center located in the Zhenfengta Hotel.
Mr. Chen Yan was arrested by officers from the Beishan Police Station on the morning of April 23, 2021, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police searched his home twice and seized his Falun Gong books and other items. He was put under criminal detention and is being held at the Shuangyashan City Detention Center.
Ms. Du Shuhui was harassed at home by officer Yu Long and two others from the Chengdong Police Station on the morning of April 20, 2021. They threatened her and her family, ordered her to report to the police station with her ID, residency registration, and release certificate. They seized her music player. Her husband was so traumatized that he became bedridden.
Wu Xintao (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Taigu District Domestic Security Division on February 22, 2021 when Wu was reading Zhuan Falun in another practitioner’s home. Wu was held in the Jinzhong City Detention Center for more than two months and was formally arrested. Wu’s case will be submitted to the Taigu District Court.
Three practitioners were arrested with Wu. They were released on February 23. They were afterwards harassed with the intention of taking them to a brainwashing center.
Luo Libin (gender unknown) was arrested four months ago and is being held at the Mishan Detention Center. Officers from the Domestic Security Division said Luo’s hearing was scheduled in two months.
Zheng Runfeng (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Ningyuan Domestic Security Division in 2012. Zheng was arrested again at the end of 2020 by Ningyuan police. Zheng was released on bail after Zheng developed severe anemia in the detention center. Zheng’s case was submitted to the Xintian County Procuratorate.
Ms. Gong Baoyun was arrested at her home around 10 a.m. on April 25, 2021 by director Liu from the Dawangzhuang Police Station, officer Zhu from the Hedong Police Department, and two other officers. She was reported when she distributed information about Falun Gong. They seized her computer, printer paper, and several Falun Gong books. No news about her was available after they took her to the police station.
Mr. Hou Qingsheng, in his 60s, was last seen talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in early March 2021. His family confirmed that he was arrested and has been detained for more than a month.
From 2020 to 2021, authorities from the Longchang City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, police stations, communities, and street offices harassed practitioners and their families. They tried to force them to sign statements and renounce Falun Gong as part of the CCP’s current campaign to “zero out” known Falun Gong practitioners.
Ms. Dai Huafen, Yu Ziming (gender unknown), Ms. Huang Rongling, Ms. Peng Shufen, and Ms. Lei Yaozhi were harassed. When Ms. Huang refused to sign, the authorities tried to force her daughter to sign for her. When Ms. Peng refused to sign, her husband beat her and signed for her. Ms. Lei’s husband received several harassment calls from the community, domestic security division, and street office. The callers threatened him with their daughter’s job and grandchild’s education. They said they would imprison Ms. Lei in a brainwashing center if she did not sign. They also threatened her with forced labor and said that the persecution against her would escalate until she died.
The parents of Li Chunxiao (gender unknown) were harassed at home by two officers from the Xinzhaizi Police Station on the evening of April 25, 2021. They questioned where Li lived and asked for Li’s phone number. They claimed that if they could talk to Li in person and take Li’s picture, they would delete Li’s name from their database.
Last week, Yu Ping (gender unknown), Zhang Honglong (gender unknown), Wang Shaoying (gender unknown), Song Yulong (gender unknown), Li Xiao (gender unknown), Liu Ying (gender unknown), and Wang Mingyan (gender unknown) were harassed by people from their neighborhood committees, work units, and local police stations. The practitioners were ordered to sign documents renouncing Falun Gong. They were threatened and told if they did not sign, they would be fired from their jobs, held in brainwashing centers, and their work units and their families would each send a person to watch them there. Yu Ping fled home and is in exile.
Mr. Han Jilai, 57, was harassed by officers from the Beicheng Police Station in mid-April 2021. Ms. Xiaoe was harassed by agents from the Dongchangfu District Political and Legal Affairs Committee. The agents called her husband and their child, and threatened that if she did not comply, the child would be fired from work.
Ms. Wang Ruiling was harassed by neighborhood officer Bai Yuxi and clerks from her community on April 6, 2021. They threatened her, “If you keep practicing, you will lose your salary and jeopardize your grandson and granddaughter’s education and jobs.” “The community has a transfer slot. You will be detained and sentenced if you continue practicing.” They harassed her daughter and demanded she sign for Ms. Wang. The daughter refused.
A group of people ransacked the home of Pan Qin (gender unknown) on April 23, 2021, without displaying any IDs or warrants. They seized Pan’s notebook computer, a printer, and 1,000 yuan in paper currency with Falun Gong messages printed on them.
Ms. Liu Shuping of Dumeng County was arrested about 10 days ago. She lives alone. Her door and peephole are sealed from the outside.
Li Fenglan (gender unknown) was arrested on April 8, 2020, after someone reported Li for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Li was released at night. Li received the indictment from the Dadong District Procuratorate on April 16, 2021. The Dadong District Police Department issued an arrest warrant. Li was arrested at home by officers from the Dongshan Police Station on April 23. Li is being held at the Shenyang No.1 Detention Center.
Ms. Fu Xiuqin, 69, was arrested by officers from the Sanjiadian Police Station in July 2020.
Ms. Qi Xiangru of Kangping County was arrested on the street by officers from the Shengli Police Station on April 25, 2021.
Mr. Hou Wenqin, 50, was arrested at home at noon on April 15, 2021 by officers from the Jinma Police Station and the Guandu District 610 Office. The officers seized several dozen Falun Gong books, a computer, a notebook computer, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, USB drives, MP3, and other items. They arrested him without showing any documents or IDs. His family did not receive any detention notification even after he had been detained for 10 days. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Mr. Hou was arrested on March 19, 2012. He talked to coworkers about Falun Gong and gave his boss Falun Gong materials. His boss reported him to the police. His home was ransacked. He was sentenced to three years in prison. His work unit, Kunming Water and Electricity No.14 Bureau, fired him after he was released.
Mr. Hao Hucheng, 35, an air conditioner repairman, was arrested in his apartment by officers from the Qiliqu Police Station on the evening of April 22, 2021.
Eleven days after Ms. Liu Li was last seen on April 14, 2021, her neighborhood officer confirmed by phone that she was arrested. Her whereabouts are still unknown.
Ms. Chen Yushu, an elderly practitioner, was arrested by officers from the Kuiguang Road Police Station on April 24, 2021, after an agent from the Comprehensive Management Office reported her for distributing Falun Gong flyers in the street. The officers handcuffed her, took her to the police station, and interrogated her. They brought her to the Dujiangyan City Medical Center for a physical exam. The results showed she had uremia. They went to the Dujiangyan City Forestry Hospital, reviewed her medical record, and found she was diagnosed with uremia. They called in a committee member from her village for verification. Even though he confirmed her medical condition, she was not released until the police director checked again and verified she was not qualified to be detained.
