Silk figurines are a traditional Chinese folk art with a history of one thousand years. Making these figurines involves carving, painting, sewing, dyeing, weaving, and filigreeing. The heads of the figurines can be made of gesso, clay, or wood, while the skin and clothes are different weaves of silk fabric.
This silk figurine, named “Heavenly Maiden Scattering Flowers,” is made by a Falun Dafa practitioner in Spain. The ancient Chinese believed that when a divine being comes to the world to save people, heavenly maidens will cast flowers around in celebration of the grand event.
This art piece is dedicated to the special occasion of May 13, 2021, which marked the 22nd World Falun Dafa Day and the 70th birthday of Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa.
