(Minghui.org) As part of the nationwide “Zero-out campaign” targeting Falun Gong practitioners, the Suihua City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office ordered the police and the residential committee staff members to harass practitioners.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
In the Beilin District of Suihua City alone, 25 practitioners have been harassed in March and April 2021, eight of whom were in their 70s and two nearly 80.
A police officer from Chunlei Police Station in Beilin District, called Ms. Zhao Xiaoyu’s husband on March 19, to check if she still practiced Falun Gong. Her husband told the officer that she could not quit. The police officer asked her husband not to let her go out or contact other practitioners.
Her husband answered a phone call from a police officer at around 8:30 a.m. on April 2. The officer said that the provincial inspection team came to Suihua and demanded that Ms. Zhao not go out to spread the facts about Falun Gong. Another phone call came in later the same day looking for Ms. Zhao. Her husband also answered the call again. The man said that Ms. Zhao was regarded as an important target they were monitoring and emphasized that they didn’t want her to go around town spreading information about Falun Gong.
Yang Zhigang, Party secretary of Xingyuan Residential Committee in Beilin District, came to Ms. Zhao's home on April 18. He asked Ms. Zhao if she was still practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Zhao firmly told him, “Whoever asks me this question, I will always answer yes.” Unable to persuade her, he left.
Ms. Liu Xiulian, in her 70s, was released from Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on March 17 after serving a 2.5-year term. Her husband passed away in anxiety and grief six months after she was imprisoned.
She has been harassed by phone calls from officers from the 610 Office and the police station, as well as residential committee staff members several times since March.
Biguiyuan Residential Committee members repeatedly knocked on the door of Ms. Liu Rui’s home to harass her and her blind mother in March and April. When Ms. Liu refused to open the door, they shouted outside to threaten her.
Whenever a leaflet with information about Falun Gong was spotted in her neighborhood, the residential committee staff members would knock on her door to harass her and report her to the Suihai City Political and Legal Affair Committee and 610 Office. In the meantime, they monitored and followed her, and even ordered community security personnel and janitors to keep an eye on her.
Biguiyuan Residential Committee administers several neighborhoods. They harassed and threatened Falun Gong practitioners with the same tactics used on Ms. Liu.
One day in early April, staff members from Huayuan Residential Committee in Beilin District came to Mr. Hou Yulin’s house early in the morning to harass him. They asked him if he still practiced Falun Gong. Mr. Hou answered yes. They threatened him by reminding him that the CCP pays his salary. He refuted that he earns his salary with his hard work.
Three people came back to his home in the afternoon to check on him again. They went into his home, looked around, and left without saying anything.
Ms. Li Deqin received two harassing calls from strangers on her cellphones, on April 9 and April 13. As early as March 19, a police officer from Chunlei Police Station called her son and asked him if his mother and grandmother were still practicing Falun Gong. The officer told the son that his mother was an important person they monitored and that they'd ordered her not to go out (to tell people the facts about Falun Gong).
Mr. Chen Yingchao received a phone call in early April from the Jianshe Police Station asking if he still practiced Falun Gong and if his family lived in the same place. Mr. Chen told them that his family no longer lived in the precinct under the jurisdiction of that police station.
Mr. Zhang Zhijie also received harassing phone calls from the Shengli Police Station and community workers in early April.
Other Falun Gong practitioners who have been harassed in Beilin District in March and April included Wang Yiyoung, Liu Zhulin, Jiang Guilin, Xue Shuzhen and her husband, Zhao Shufen, Bai Yang, Zhou Guilan, Jiao Zhihui (also known as Jiao Li), Yang Zhihong, Gao Jinshu, Han Xiulan, Liu Rui’s mother, Bai Shulin and his wife Li Yingxia, Liu Yuhua, Cao Yinghua, and Chen Shufan.
