(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their beliefs.
Ms. Xie Fengying, 76, was sentenced to a six month prison term by the Jingjiang City Court on July 6, 2021, for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa).
Ms. Li Hui, 18, is a freshman at the Weifang Nursing Vocational College. Police officers, led by a teacher, went to her dormitory on April 22, 2021. They confiscated five Dafa books, more than 200 cards with bypassing Internet censorship information, 16 amulets, and a USB drive. Ms. Li was arrested and detained in the Weifang City Detention Center. Her parent’s home was also ransacked by a dozen officers from the Qingzhou District Police Department and the Liancheng Police Station in her hometown.
Ms. Li has been detained for more than three months, and her family has not been allowed to visit her. Her family heard that she would be tried on August 12, 2021.
Li Shui, head of the Nanlou Police Station, saw Mr. Li Minfu put a sticker imprinted with “Falun Dafa is good” in the local residential community at around 9 p.m. in mid-July 2020. Mr. Li was handcuffed and arrested. A dozen officers ransacked his home. Mr. Li was detained for two days and one night, and was released, given his poor health. He signed a document “released on bail pending trial” in the police station.
His case was submitted to the Procuratorate. He received a call from the Wuqing District Procuratorate on June 24, 2021, and was informed that he had to hire a lawyer.
Ms. Liu Junhua and her husband received calls on July 21 and 22, 2021 from Zhang Xiaolan, who is a teacher at West China Normal University and a “helper” in the Huafeng Brainwashing Center. Zhang Xiaolan was looking for Ms. Liu’s daughter. Ms. Liu and her husband refused to give him any information, and said that Zhang was not welcome if he showed up at their home.
A high-tech surveillance camera was installed at around 5 p.m. on July 23, 2021, ordered by the Jiangjun Road Police Station and the Youyuan Road Community from Shunqing District. The camera was installed high up on a wall, and used to watch the door of Ms. Liu’s home. It is a tracking camera that follows a moving object or person. Ms. Liu’s husband took some photos of it before removing it. He filed a lawsuit with the Shunqing District Court.
Gao Xiuqing (gender unknown) disappeared during a train trip back to Beijing on the afternoon of July 17, 2021. It was found that Gao was arrested by officers from the Yanjiang Police Station in Xi’an District and was placed under 15-day detention. The reason for the arrest is unknown.
Gao’s younger brother Mr. Gao Yixi died when being persecuted. Gao went to Mudanjiang City from Beijing to appeal on behalf of Gao Yixi because of being targeted by the 610 Office.
Chao Guiying (gender unknown) was harassed at home by two male staff members of the community in May 2021. Chao didn’t cooperate with their demands.
A female and male officer from the Leshanlvxin Police Station went to Chao’s home in early June 2021. They wanted to take photos as soon as Chao opened the door. Chao stopped them from using the camera.
Mr. He Mingjun received a harassing call from officer Deng Xiuzhi on July 2, 2021. He was asked whether he still practiced Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang Yongping received a call from the Xijie Police Station in Shanhaiguan District in early June 2021. He was asked to come to the police station, which he refused to do. He agreed to meet the officers in his real estate office. Two officers went to his business. They wanted to take a photo of Mr. Wang and demanded that he sign a guarantee statement, which he refused to do. The officers wanted to talk to his wife, who is also a practitioner, but he wouldn’t allow them to see her.
The officers later went to the real estate agency operated by Mr. Wang’s son. His son was told that he would lose his business license if he refused to sign a guarantee statement on behalf of his parents. He refused to sign the document.
Liu (first name and gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Shuyuan Police Station in Dongshan District on August 1, 2021.
Mr. Lu Fuqiang from Jiangjia Village was reported to police when he was going door by door to clarify the truth about Falun Gong on May 11, 2021. He was arrested and taken to the Zhuqiao Town Police Station in Laizhou City. He was released at around 9 p.m. that evening.
Three officers from the Chengbei Police Station went to Ms. Li Birong’s home at around 2 p.m. on May 20, 2021. The police demanded that Ms. Li sign a guarantee statement.
Ms. Wang Yulan is currently detained in the Jinzhou Women’s Detention Center.
Meng Lingbo (gender unknown) was arrested. Details are not available.
Ms. Zhao Rongcai, approximately 50, was arrested at her workplace around July 29, 2021. It’s not known where she was detained. Her rented house was ransacked. Ms. Zhao has been arrested multiple times in the past.
Two officers from the Wangquan Town Police Station went to Ms. Hang Shizhen’s home at around 5 p.m. on July 11, 2021. They asked whether Ms. Hang still practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Hang stopped them from video recording her. The two officers went to harass Ms. Kang Jinmei after they left Ms. Hang’s home.
Mr. Cheng Zhihong was found carrying Falun Gong information materials when boarding a train on July 28, 2020. He was searched because his ID card showed that he was a Falun Gong adherent. His home was ransacked. The Dafa books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder Mr. Li Hongzhi, and amulets were confiscated. However, he was temporarily released for one year by the Procuratorate, pending trial.
Ms. Li Shujuan, 45, was arrested by officers from the Qingbaishi Police Station on September 16, 2019, for distributing truth-clarifying materials. She was detained for 15 days in the Taoshuping Detention Center. Officers from the Gongxingdun Police Station and local sub-district office have harassed her since then.
Li Xuedong, deputy of the Gongxingdun Police Station, and officer Yang Qingshan intercepted Ms. Li Shujuan at the entrance to her residential community early on the morning of April 2021 when she was leaving for work. She was taken to the local sub-district office and asked about her job, her husband’s job, and her child’s school the next day. She was also forced to watch videos that slandered Falun Gong and Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong.
Ms. Li received a call from the police station on July 5, 2021 and was told to stop by the station. She refused. Two days later, on the afternoon of July 7, 2021, three people went to her child’s school to talk to her child. They warned the child not to tell anyone about their visit.
Ms. Li was talked into going to the sub-district office on July 12, 2021. They tried to brainwash her using a Falun Gong book that had been marked up. They threatened stopping her child from attending school and cancelling her husband’s business contracts. They warned her not to post what they were doing to her and her family to the Minghui website, as it would be treated as “colluding with Falun Gong abroad.”
Ms. Li was forced to go to the sub-district on July 14 and 16, 2021 and sign the four statements. She and her husband also received harassing calls later.
Mr. Zhang Peng, 37, was arrested in June 2019 after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. His home was ransacked and his computer and printer were confiscated. Three practitioners, Mr. Wang Yuchao, 28, Mr. Zang Jinda, and Mr. Ma Haipeng, were also arrested between June and August for distributing Falun Gong materials with Mr. Zhang.
The four practitioners were held at the Chunhua County Detention Center and later indicted by the Xianyang City Procuratorate. It was recently confirmed that Mr. Zhang was sentenced to nine years in prison. It’s unknown whether the other three practitioners have been sentenced.
