(Minghui.org) A 65-year-old Heishan County, Liaoning Province resident is facing prosecution for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Ruifeng was first arrested on April 2, 2021, while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police held her at the Jinzhou City Detention Center for over ten days before releasing her.
After Ms. Wang returned home, she noticed that some officers were stationed outside of her home. She realized that the police likely released her in an attempt to arrest other practitioners who had contact with her.
On May 12, the police arrested Ms. Wang again while she was talking to people about Falun Gong at a market.
The following day, the police informed Ms. Wang’s daughter, who was working out of town, of her arrest. When her daughter returned home on the evening of May 13, she saw her home had been ransacked.
On May 18, Wang Zhen and Li Bo, of the Heishan County Domestic Security Office, submitted Ms. Wang’s case to the Linghai City Procuratorate, which is in charge of all Falun Gong cases in the Jinzhou area (which oversees Heishan County). A prosecutor surnamed Tao was assigned to be in charge of her case.
Ms. Wang is now held at the Jinzhou City Detention Center and denied family visits.
Ms. Wang, a retired elementary school teacher, took up Falun Gong in 1996. She soon regained her health and also improved her character. She became more peaceful. Influenced by her, her students also disciplined themselves better.
For distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in a village on May 12, 2014, Ms. Wang was reported by a villager and arrested. The police ransacked her home and confiscated over 10,000 yuan in cash from her.
While incarcerated at the detention center, the guards instigated inmates Wang Yan and Diao Lili to beat her. Three of her teeth fell out as a result. She was also held in solitary confinement in July 2014.
Bi Shijun of the Dahushan Town Police Station fabricated evidence against Ms. Wang and submitted her case to the procuratorate. She was secretly tried by the Heishan County Court in September 2014 and later sentenced to five years in Liaoning Province Women’s Prison. She was sentenced by presiding judge Liu Li, alongside assistant judge Chang Wansheng.
