(Minghui.org) I am a retired teacher. The other day, I went to visit my younger brother. Upon arriving, I noticed that my niece was reading a copy of Zhuan Falun.
“You know, the gaokao (national college entrance exam) is coming soon. Why aren’t you preparing for that?” I asked.
“This is part of my teacher’s assignment,” she replied. “He said that we need to read this book several times before gaokao.”
When I asked her which teacher assigned this homework, her answer surprised me. Her teacher was Yong, a Ph.D who was infamous in the city for his attacks on Falun Gong.
“Are you sure?” I asked. “I’ve heard that he was against Falun Gong. Is this some kind of joke? Or a trap?”
I asked my niece to tell me what happened. I knew that Yong was incredibly knowledgeable and he was especially good at debating. He’d quote the classics with ease; it was almost impossible to defeat him. For these reasons, he was a very well-known teacher.
It was for these reasons, said my niece, that the police asked Yong to help “transform” Falun Gong practitioners in prison. Yong readily agreed and thought it would be a piece of cake. After studying up on some religion-related materials and CCP propaganda, he arrived at the prison with confidence.
It just so happened that Yong was supposed to transform a Falun Gong practitioner named Peng. Peng also had his doctorate degree.
During his discussion with Yong, Peng explained to Yong what Falun Gong really is, and how the CCP made up lies to defame the practice. He also talked about how the regime forced practitioners to renounce their beliefs.
Peng told Yong about the brutal torture that practitioners had suffered for upholding their beliefs, and how this torture had violated the law and ran counter to morality. Falun Gong practitioners just wanted to become better citizens by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Many of them have also improved their physical health. Furthermore, Falun Gong gave them strength to remain determined and peaceful, even while being persecuted.
Deeply impressed by Peng’s words, Yong graciously conceded defeat. In fact, he said that the materials he had prepared to use for transforming practitioners was “like garbage.” He was ashamed, and had realized the injustice of what he was doing.
“Could you find me a copy of Zhuan Falun?” he asked Peng.
“Just look around and any practitioner will help you get it,” Peng replied. He also reminded Yong to read the book repeatedly, since he may reach different understandings each time he read the book.
That was Yong’s moment of awakening, and after that, he was a changed man. My niece told me that Yong also encouraged his students to read Zhuan Falun.
“He told to us that, when he read the book for the first time, he found it was a book that told people how to be good; when he read it the second time, he found that it was about cultivation,” said my niece.
As Yong read it further, he found the book answered his questions about astronomy, archaeology, geology, history, traditional culture, and many other topics. Numerous queries that had puzzled him for decades were resolved.
“He told us that, by reading Zhuan Falun often, we could broaden our views and gain wisdom. It would help us to be more efficient with our studies and get better grades,” she added.
After the gaokao scores were published, I asked my niece how she scored. “I scored 12 more points than I thought I would,” she replied with excitement.
She said that she was stuck on a 12-point math problem that she had no idea how to solve. Her mind was blank.
“So I began to recite ‘Falun Dafa is good’ (Falun Gong is also known as Falun Dafa),” she said. “After a while, a solution appeared in my mind and I was able to solve it correctly.”
She said that the other students in her class also scored higher than they expected.
I told her that many other people have been blessed for supporting the innocent practitioners, as well as believing and saying “Falun Dafa is good.”
My niece smiled. “Do you know how we greet our teacher now? Every time we see him, we would whisper ‘Falun Dafa is good’ to him. And he would nod and smile.”
Once, the principal I used to work for came to visit me. I told her about the 12 extra points that my niece had scored, along with the story of Yong’s change of heart back in the brainwashing center.
The principal said she had heard about it too. After I explained to her what Falun Gong was, she said, “I am not against Falun Gong, but please be careful out there!”
I am happy for Yong, the principal, and the students. I believe that more people will know the facts and be blessed with a better future.
