(Minghui.org) During the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s recent zero-out campaign aimed to force every Falun Gong practitioner on the government’s list to renounce their faith, police officers and residential committee workers alike have been mobilized to harass Falun Gong practitioners.
Many practitioners and their family members who understand the facts about Falun Gong firmly resisted the harassment and drove the perpetrators away.
Persuading the Police to Stop Doing Evil
A local residential committee in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province attempted to harass a senior Falun Gong practitioner in May 2021. As she wasn’t home when he came, he returned weeks later.
The practitioner opened the door and let him in. As soon as he sat down, he said to the practitioner, “According to orders from the 610 Office, if you still practice Falun Gong, you have to write a guarantee statement to give it up and denounce it.”
“I didn’t even write such things when the persecution was at its height in 1999. Why do you think I would write that now?”
He looked stunned.
Feeling sorry for the officer, who looked like to be in his 30s, the practitioner said to him: “Looks like you don’t know much about Falun Gong and its practitioners.” She told him that Falun Gong teaches people to abide by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, which elevates people’s morality and improves people’s health. She said she had all sorts of diseases before she took up Falun Gong. But all of her diseases were gone shortly afterwards and she has not been sick ever since.
“We are a group of cultivators who only want to be good people. I hope you do not participate in the persecution. It is not good for you and your family. When the authorities have you carry out the persecution for them, they are harming and ruining you,” she said to him.
He listened attentively while she was talking. He seemed to understand something but still asked to take a picture of the practitioner. She refused, and he left without pressing her any further.
Son Refuses to Sign Renouncing Statement on Behalf of His Parents
Mr. Wang Yongping, who lives in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, owns a real estate company. He received a call from officers from Xijie Police Station in June 2021 and was told to go to the police station to answer some questions. Mr. Wang refused and stated that if the police needed to see him, they should come to his office themselves.
Two officers went to his office and insisted that he cooperate with them.
Mr. Wang replied: “Cooperate? With what? If it is appropriate, I might. If it is not appropriate, I will not.”
The policemen then asked him to write a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang responded: “With regard to Falun Gong, I absolutely will not cooperate with you.”
The officers also wanted to take his picture, but Mr. Wang refused to comply.
The police threatened to go to his home and talk to his wife, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner. Mr. Wang stopped them right there: “I don’t want you to go to my home. Whatever you want to say, you can tell me right here. My wife will not cooperate with you either. That is for sure.”
The police then left, only to go to Mr. Wang’s son’s real estate office and try to force the younger man to sign the statement for his father. They threatened to confiscate his real estate license if he refused to sign it.
Mr. Wang’s son replied: “My business license is approved by the government after I demonstrated compliance with the relevant laws and regulations. Is there a law or regulation that states it is alright to confiscate offspring’s business licenses because he refuses to sign a guarantee statement for his parents to give up their belief? Bring it to me and let me see.”
The police were speechless and left.
