(Minghui.org) After spending five years on the run to avoid being arrested for practicing Falun Gong, a native of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, was arrested in Wen’an County, Hebei Province, on March 2, 2023. Ms. Fan Meiling is now in the Guangyang District Detention Center in Langfang City, Hebei Province, and the local 610 Office is handling her case.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Fan, 62, was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong while working in Wen’an, about 340 miles from Chifeng, back in 2017. When she failed the physical exam, she was released on bail a few days later. She moved from place to place to hide from the police, only to be arrested five years later.
Ms. Fan hasn’t been able to go back to Chifeng to visit her parents since 2017, and the elderly couple in their 80s miss her very much. Every time Ms. Fan’s daughter went to visit them, Ms. Fan’s 88-year-old father would ask her how her mother was doing. Now he has become bedridden and his only wish is to see his daughter again.
Ms. Fan took up Falun Gong in 1995 and she credits the practice for curing her many ailments, especially a duodenal ulcer. Over the past 24 years, she has been targeted several times for her faith. She was detained for a month and held in a brainwashing center for three months following an arrest in March 2002. She was arrested again on October 12, 2015, for suing Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who ordered the persecution, and was detained for another month.
