(Minghui.org) The Minghui Editorial Board published a call for submissions on February 28, 2023 (with English version available on March 1) to commemorate World Falun Dafa Day this year. Here, I would like to bring up an observation on the artwork submissions.
One situation is that, practitioners with professional training and good skills often produced leisurely artworks such as flowers and birds, landscapes, villages, homes, and so on. The most common ones are landscape paintings with a large poster or banner, but they lack more in depth meaning and story-telling components. Meanwhile, some practitioners do have the conceptual composition of scenes where Dafa practitioners raise awareness or do other types of things that are a part of the three things. But they often lack technical skills and even have to learn painting from the beginning to produce such artworks.
We hope there will be a breakthrough this year, so that the artworks will be both meaningful and artistically beautiful. One idea is that some practitioners could contribute conceptual composition on this special historical period when mankind co-exists with the divine beings, and then some other practitioners with professional artistic skills could complete the artworks. Of course, this means we must have ideas first and do it with our heart. Whether this can materialize or not also depends on our cultivation as well as our wisdom and insights obtained from Dafa.
Editor’s note: This article only represents the author’s understanding in their current cultivation state meant for sharing among practitioners so that we can “Compare in studying, compare in cultivating.” (“Solid Cultivation,” Hong Yin)
