(Minghui.org) Five Beijing residents were recently convicted for their faith in Falun Gong, which has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Among them, Ms. Liu Yuhong was sentenced to two years, Ms. Liu Xing to one year and nine months, Ms. Dong Xiurong to one year and four months, Ms. Jin Shuying to one year, and Ms. Zhang Guizhi to eight months.
The five practitioners and at least 26 other local practitioners were arrested in July 2022, four months before the 20th Party Congress was held on October 16-22. Most of the practitioners had their homes ransacked. Many more were harassed and ordered to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong.
The five practitioners had their arrests approved around September 2, 2022, and they were detained at the Daxing Detention Center. Details about their sentencing weren’t clear.
