(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Xu Jianxin, 68, of Qibao Town, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison, (June 17, 2021, to December 16, 2024). He is incarcerated in the Tilanqiao Prison’s 1st Ward.
Ms. Du Guixia, 70, was arrested on April 14, 2022. She was released on bail pending trial after she was held in the Panshan Detention House for 15 days. The Panjin City Court called her and had her report to the court on March 30, 2023. They played a video showing a resident reporting her to the police and the items that were confiscated from her home, which included a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, over 2,000 yuan in paper currency with Falun Gong messages printed on them, and a gold necklace.
Agents from the Panjin City Court and Procuratorate, as well as officers from the Panjin City Police Department and the Xinglong Police Station, threatened her, saying, “If you do not admit your guilt, you will be sentenced to three to five years in prison. If you do, it’s two years.” Under extreme pressure, she said she was guilty. The sentence will be executed on April 10, 2023.
Mr. Liu Junhua was sentenced to three years and five months in prison by the Yongxiu County Court. He has appealed.
Zhou Chen lives in a rental home at 168 Nong, Xiangyihuacheng, Shiquandong Road in the Putuo District. His 79-year-old mother lives with him. He has been missing for 11 days.
Ms. Zhang Cuifang was arrested by officers from the Yuyang District Domestic Security Division on August 1, 2022. Her home was ransacked. Her first court hearing was a virtual one and was held in early March 2023, after she was detained for nearly eight months. She did not say a word and the trial was canceled. She was taken to court for a second hearing around March 23, 2023.
Ms. Yan Xinyun lives in the Chaoyang District. Someone reported her when she distributed Falun Gong flyers. Officers from the Nanmofang Police Station traced her to her home through the surveillance camera system. On January 4, 2023, officers knocked on her door. They pretended to be property management company workers who came to check for the source of the water leak downstairs. As soon as the door was opened, three officers rushed in. One watched her, while the other two ransacked the place. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, cash, music players, and other belongings.
They took her first to a hospital for a physical examination and to collect blood samples, and then to the police station. Around 3:00 a.m., she was admitted to a detention house. Seven days later, she was transferred to a detention center where she was held for 14 days. During the Chinese Communist Party’s two annual political meetings the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference), she was repeatedly harassed at home by officer Zhang Yong from the Panjiayuan Police Station. The officer also had people stationed in front of her apartment building.
Ms. Qi Yuling of the Jimo District was detained for 30 days. Officers from the Mashan Police Station gave her a year's release on bail pending trial when she was released on March 28, 2023.
Ms. Qing Hua, who lived alone, disappeared after she went to the Dingmao Police Station. It was learned later that she was given a 15-day administrative detention. She was released.
Ms. Qu Guiying finished a four-year prison term and returned home on April 2, 2023.
Ms. Dai Lijun lives in the Changtongjiayuan Community. Her home was ransacked and she was placed under house arrest on March 27, 2023. The officers confiscated numerous Falun Gong books, Falun Gong posters, and several thousand yuan in paper currency with Falun Gong messages printed on them.
Ms. Zhao Li and Ms. Zhang Caihua talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Fuji City on the morning of March 28, 2023. Two plainclothes officers from the Domestic Security Division noticed them, and pretended to ask for Falun Gong flyers, then called for other officers. The practitioners were taken to the Xiyuan Police Station and interrogated. That afternoon, they were taken to the Yuhuangding Hospital for physical exams. Ms. Zhao was admitted to the Weihai Detention Center. Ms. Zhang could not be admitted because of her medical conditions. The officers called her son and had him take her home.
Ms. Chen Xuyun and her younger sister were arrested by officers from the Shiyan City Police Department on the afternoon of March 2, 2023. The sisters were on their way to practitioner Wu Xuyong’s home and were intercepted by the officers waiting in front of Wu’s apartment building. The practitioners’ homes were ransacked. They were held in the Zhangwan District Brainwashing Center until the end of March before they were transferred to the Shiyan City Detention Center. Police are collecting “evidence” for their indictments.
Ms. Pan Baozhen was repeatedly harassed by officers from the Xinqu Police Station. The officers said her case was submitted to the Dong’e Court.
Ms. Ren Yueju was arrested by officers from the Liaocheng University Police Station and clerks from her neighborhood committee around 6:00 a.m. on November 12 or 13, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated her printers.
On March 29, 2023, the officers ordered her to report to the Dongchangfu District Procuratorate, where her case was submitted.
Mr. Ding Zhiquan is a Ph.D. in agriculture working in the Beijing Agriculture Science Institute. He went to Ulanqab in Inner Mongolia to consult with his farm customers about planting around March 10, 2023. The Ulanqab police checked his ID and arrested him. He has since been held in a detention center there.
Ms. Li, first name unknown, in her 50s, lives in the Xinmao Community in the Heping District. She was arrested on March 15, 2023, by officers from the Hunhewan Police Station. Ms. Cheng, first name unknown, in her 70s, lives in Shashan in the Heping District. She was arrested the same day. Both practitioners were admitted to the Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Center on March 17, 2023.
Ms. Guan Xiaofen was arrested by officers from the Yagou Police Station on April 1, 2022. She was given a release on bail pending trial because of the COVID pandemic. She was arrested again outside of her rental home on March 31, 2023.
Mr. Wang Quan was a farmer in Erdao Township, Fengman District. He was repeatedly arrested by officers from the Erdao Township Police Station. He was once beaten badly, had bruises all over his body, and lost his hearing in one ear. His wife was taken to a brainwashing center at the same time. The officers slapped their mentally retarded daughter’s face and left her home alone. Mr. Wang and his family had to repeatedly flee home to avoid being persecuted. During those days, he developed severe illnesses. He was 68 years old when he died on April 10, 2017.
