Mr. Huang Xiangwei is a 44-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province who is currently incarcerated in Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. In an attempt to force Mr. Huang to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa, the police in Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp took turns jogging while dragging Mr. Huang, who was already paralyzed and in a weakened condition, on the ground in the courtyard. Mr. Huang's pants were soaked in blood from this torture. Afterwards, Mr. Huang started a hunger strike to protest the torture and his illegal incarceration. As of March 27, 2004, Mr. Huang has been on the hunger strike for nearly 100 consecutive days and is now on the verge of death.
Before Mr. Huang started to practice Falun Dafa in 1996, he suffered from coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, a problem with his kidneys, and several other types of diseases. After he started to practice Falun Dafa, all of these diseases got better and disappeared.
On May 15, 2002, police from the Harbin City Public Security Bureau received a tip from an informant that Mr. Huang Xiangwei practiced Falun Gong. Police then abducted Mr. Huang from his home and put him into the Seventh Team in the Second Detention Center of Harbin City. Because Mr. Huang refused to renounce Falun Gong (since it was one of his Constitutional rights [1] as a citizen of the PRC to "enjoy freedom of religious belief,") the disciplinary staff at the detention center kept torturing him, causing him to become paralyzed from the waist down and no longer able to walk. In addition, Mr. Huang was illegally sentenced to three years in prison and was later placed into Wanjia Forced Labor Camp's internal hospital.
Mr. Huang was incarcerated in Wanjia Forced Labor Camp's internal hospital in Harbin City for a year, where he was subject to various forms of torture. Because Mr. Huang was paralyzed, he had to crawl on the floor every time he needed to go to the bathroom. After one year's suffering at the hospital, his weight dropped from approximately 187 lbs to less than 110 lbs. His family could hardly recognize him when they were finally allowed to see him. After fellow Falun Dafa practitioners relayed the factual information about the persecution against Mr. Huang to Clearwisdom.net, Wanjia Forced Labor Camp's hospital pressured the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp to take him back. In December 2003, Mr. Huang was thus transferred back to Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp.
Before Mr. Huang began his hunger strike, the staff at Changlinzi had already started to torture him by force-feeding him concentrated salt-water, falsely claiming that he was on a hunger strike. [The forced-feeding of concentrated salt-water is commonly used to torture Falun Gong practitioners in Chinese prisons and labor camps. It causes intense pain, and many people have died of the resulting dehydration.] The disciplinary staff at Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp also tortured Mr. Huang by continuously dragging him on the ground across the courtyard for an extended period of time until his pants were torn all over and soaked with his own blood. Afterwards, Mr. Huang indeed went on hunger strike to protest this persecution and unlawful detention, which is in direct violation of the PRC's own Constitution. It has been nearly 100 days since Mr. Huang began his hunger strike, and he was on the brink of death at the time of writing this article. In order to cover up the above-stated facts, Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp has denied all of his family's requests for a visit. His family could only get partial and ambiguous information about him from the staff at Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp.
Mr. Huang Xiangwei's home is located in a farming village. His mother is nearly 70 years old and his child just turned 12. His family is poor and is also directly suffering as a result of his incarceration. We urge people and various organizations in China and worldwide to extend your help to end the persecution. We also urge Falun Dafa practitioners inside and outside China to write letters or to call Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp and to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the dark minions in other dimensions behind the persecution of Mr. Huang.
