Facts of the Persecution
Zhang Guifu, former section chief of the political security section at Erdao police sub-station of Changchun City, and Ma Jun, a political protection unit section member, have actively persecuted Falun Gong practitioners over the past several years. After arresting practitioners, they first perform body searches and take any money they find. They then slap the practitioners and beat the practitioners' heads with belts, kick and punch them. They also resort to all kinds of physical torture. Since July 20, 1999, Zhang and Ma have been personally responsible for taking up to one hundred practitioners to labor camps.
Practitioner Wang Zhongyan from Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province, was kidnapped on August 5 by personnel from the Liaoyuan police station and the police department. It is suspected that he is now illegally jailed at the local detention center.
Ms. Huang Zhiling, over 50 years old, is a retiree from Haizhu District in Guangzhou City of Guangdong Province. She was arrested and unlawfully detained for 15 days for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people on the streets. Officials from the "6-10 Office" of Haizhu District, Guangzhou City and the neighborhood committee police also searched her house. On July 12, Huang Zhiling was released, but she was later kidnapped and taken to the ninth floor of the Haizhu District Mrs. He Guirong Foundation Building for brainwashing. Now 13 days have passed, and her husband Huang Huijie has not yet been allowed to see her.
